My George is picky as well, the only way he'll eat his dry food is if I skitter it across the kitchen floor and he chases it ..thank goodness these puppies don't eat alot per meal...it can sit in the bowl all day and he will not touch it lol ....

One thing I figured out is that Lucy loves things WARM. So if I warm up the chicken broth (yes, I give her boiled chicken breast too) and pour it over her kibbles, she will eat. Sometimes, I even put the kibbles in the micowave after I pour the broth on - she loves it. I will also heat up a few cooked carrots (canned) with the juice and pour that over her kibbles. She loves that too. My Westie hates it. Lastly, I use Wellness 99% canned Meat on top of their kibble, chicken, turkey, salmon, etc. I warm up a TBSP of that and mix it with their kibble and they love it.

My Yorkie Zach and my Shorkie Zoe were always picky eaters. We tried every dog food on the market with very little luck. Then we got Oliver our Shih Tzu. He was a great eater until he got a bad case of diarrhea and I started feeding him boiled chicken, boiled chop meat and rice. Now I can't get him back on the dog food again. I tried adding his food slowly but that didn't work at all. I'm also afraid not to give them dog food. Zach and Zoe will sometimes eat their food if you sprinkle a little cheese over it but not Oliver. He does seem to like the dry food though. Is it okay just to keep him on dry food and not the canned food. I'm so confused. Oliver is 3 months old now and weighs about 6 1/4 lbs so he is a good weight. Zach weighs about the same as Oliver he's 10 months old and Zoe who is 13 1/2 months old weighs about 16 lbs. I also need some suggestions.

If you home cook for your picky eater, I would consult a canine nutritionist to make sure Oliver eats a balanced diet with all of the required nutrients. It is very easy to make a dog sick with an unbalanced diet. It's also very easy to create a picky eater by always offering alternatives, or fresh foods. Last night I gave my boys boiled chicken and sweet potato and now Teddy wants nothing else. He is picking at his kibble today.

I'm new on this site, but have been referencing it since I got my little man 6 months ago at 12 weeks old. Feeding him has become a full time job....pickiest yorkie on the planet. Won't even eat chicken and hates Nutri Cal, and he's having a little diarrhea just now (vet says he's fine...)Just yesterday I hit on an idea to try. He will take any kind of treat and wolf it down. So, I bought ground chicken breast and mixed it up like meatloaf with ground kibble, white rice, and an egg...shaped it like little sausages, baked at 300 degress till cooked through (not browned...) It worked! He gobbles them up and looks for more. Just a thought for anyone out there with the same problem...

| Louie LOVED this. The diarrhea has since gone away, but now he will only eat chicken with rice Doesn't that tell you something. Soon as a dog gets sick, they are put on "real" food, and they love it! Why not try some red meat now and mix with carrots & green beans. Feeding real food is not that expensive, and you know exactly what they are eating.

My Ellie Mae is a Diva and loves people food. So I add potatoes, green beans carrots and peas to make it more balanced.
