Sad my baby dosent like her food?

Hiya everyone

sorry i dont come on here often as i am really busy at the mo.
the problem is that my little maisy moo who is 6mths old , who has been brought up on iams dry dog food and used to love it dosent seem to want to eat it any more and would go for most of the day with out eating it.
I dont know if its because we have spoilt her with our food as we give her cereals with milk for breakfast and for her last meal we give her meat cut up into little bits with gravy (we dont do this every day but every other day) i dont know if its beacause of this she isnt eating her own food but today i have gave her iams and nothing else and she hasnt touch it at all!

any advice would help a bunch!
thanks for reading this

She's probaly holding out for those every other day feedings, why would'nt she all those goodies versus blah dry puppy food. lol! I would cut out the goodie meals and then she might eat her puppy food. Good Luck!

I totally agree, she's addicted to human food now. If you hold off on it, she'll eat the puppy food when she gets hungry. I know that sounds mean, but it's the truth. We're not saying that you can't give her human food still , we're simply saying that it needs to be done less regularily, at least stopped until she begins eating her puppy food and even after that you'll still need to hold off for a little bit so she can get back into the habit of eating her "food."

This is the reason that I dont feed my girls human food bc they would get spoiled on it and not eat their food. Hopefully you can get her back to eating her dog food. Maybe just give her human food once a week or maybe after bathtime or something.

I am not saying that there is anything wrong with feeding them veggies every once in a while, I have fed mine carrots once but I dont think that you should feed them human food everyday or they wont eat their regular food!

It does sound as if she is getting used to the human food, so that may need to stop or be given less frequently. I know that sometimes they get bored with their food too, maybe you could mix another dog food with hers and see if that helps out too.

I have a question for more experienced owners- I too cannot get cali to eat much at all, she has stopped eating even the hamburger I was making for her.
1. How long can they go without food especially the smaller, younger ones. Cali is prone to hypoglycemia even at 8 months old. Can you givethem nutrical until they start eating?
2. To change their food you have to do it so gradually that I find it hard to try different foods alll the time. They may eat a little one time and then not again. Do they grow out of finicky eating ? I have never had one that was so uniterested in eating.
Sorry to take over this thread but I though it would help maisy moo's owner as well.

Chloe was a very picky eater at the beginning I couldnt get her to eat anything. I had to play games with her food like I would just dump it on the kitchen floor so that she would think that she was finding some of mommy or daddys food that we had dropped and she would eat it. Or I would take her dry kibble and roll it on the floor and she would chase after it and eat it. Finally she started eating and know I cant get her to quit eating. I know how you feel though I was switching her food all the time and taking her to the vet just to make sure she was ok. Finally she just started eating on her own. Oh yeah she eats off of plates now though she wont eat food out of a bowl for some reason maybe try that.

Thanks for all your replies.
they have been very helpful.
I know it was a little common sense to stop feeding her human food but i didnt want her to starve, but i will start to give her dog food rather than ours.

thanks again you all have been very helpful

Wow, all this sounds so familiar to us too, Baby Blessing is the pickest eater we have ever had. I have done everything to get her to eat her food, tried the different dry foods, done the wet food, bits of cheese mixed in it, cooked fresh ground sirloin to mix in with the dry, now, the only time she eats is for me to hand feed it to her, not in the palm of my hand she will look in between my finger and thumb to see if it is there,
I know, I know, everyone tells me not to do this cause when she gets hungry and it is put there before her that she won't go hungry and that she will eat, but I just worry so much and don't want her to get hypoglycemic, I am trying to figure out what to do now to break myself of this habit as well as her. She is almost five months now. Wonder how many others have done the same thing with their yorkie?

Hi everyone, My name is Dharma and this is my first time in here. My mommy is very thankful to you all for all the helful information everyone shares in this room. Any ways, in regards to the picky eaters out there like myself I have to say that it was not easy for me or my mommy to find a food that is healthy and tasty. You see... my mommy is a healthy eater so she wants me to be a healthy eater too. After trying so many thinks such as; NOVA, Nutra, Bill Jack, Science Diet, and others, we realized that NOVA was the best but to strong for me right now, maybe later when I'm a little bit older, I just turned 4 months last Saturday. My Vet told my mommy that the secret on commercial food are the ingredients, of course. For puppies like myself the four main ingredients should be protein all and then carbahidrates followed by vitamins and minerals. As I grow older Protein will be subtitute for more carbahydrates. Today my mommy when to a local Canine Cafe that carries Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. Yeah, Yeah, is the same company as Chicken Soup for the Soul Book. In any case, it's first four ingredients are Chicken, turkey, chicken meal, turkey meal, followed by whole grain brown rice, whole grain white rice, chicken fat, carrots, apple, etc, etc, etc. I have not try it yet, but my mommy said that even the way it smells its different then the other kind of foods. We also bought the semi moist can food by the sme brand to try it but I particularly love my ckicken pot pie from Merrick, My mommy always said if she can eat it I can eat it, so that is the case with Merrick. They are twice expencive then the regular can out there, but I'm worthy right? Ok guys I have to go I hope that helps a little to my fellow pickie eaters.

Do some research on IAMS. I use to think it was the best food until I spent one night researching dog food. I quickly changed my mind. I went out the next day and bought INNOVA for puppies. I slowly switched Taylor and never had a problem. She absolutely LOVES it. She picks it even over soft food. It's really healthy for her too. There are some others too that are probably just as good. After all my research I had decided on Innova...then at the pet store I asked their opinion and they suggested it too. They carried all the good ones: Gold, Chicken Soup, etc.. That sold me.
