| Yes, the Innova EVO is very high in protein (42%). We feed our puppy Innova Puppy (26%). For a puppy, I wouldn't mix dry food with wet food as the puppy may get to where it will only eat the wet food and not eat the dry food. Wet food is not good for Yorkies teeth and they already have a bad name for having bad teeth. If the dry Innova Puppy food is too big, put it in a blender (food only) for a couple seconds or put dry food in a baggie and smash with kitchen knife!

| Well, I decided to try the regular Innova due to the fact that the protein is 26 instead of over 40. The book I purchased said the perfect protein is between 25 and 30. I guess we'll see how it works. Sugar Daddy already likes the flavor better. Do I have to slowly switch him over if he REFUSES to eat the Science Diet? I tried a mixture, but once he saw the Science Diet he REFUSED TO EAT AGAIN!!! The bites should be ok cause there is a hole in the center to make it easier for him to chew up. In fact, he had an easier time with that than he does with the Science Diet the breeder was feeding him. I'll update on how it goes. I'm pretty sure we'll be more than satisfied with all the great things I've read about Innova.

| Go to: http://www.naturapet.com/display.php?d=stores-tab Type in your city and state OR zip code and it'll tell you the closest store to your HOME. You may not have to buy it online. If you live in a small town, you can also check your local feed store and health food stores nearby.

| My puppy doesn't have any problems. She eats kind of slow but she loves it. My vet said it is actually a good size because it helps clean their teeth even better. |

| I switched Muffin (8 months old) to Innova dry puppy food after the Chicken Soup scare. But whoever said not to mix wet food with the dry kibble is right because Muffin will now only eat the wet food (even tho it's mixed in REALLY well) and she leaves the kibble. I don't know what to do. I don't want her to go hungry or get hypoglycemic because she's only 4 pounds but I think the only way to get her back to eating the kibble is to only offer the kibble. Any suggestions? BTW - my 3 year old Maltese absolutely loves the Innova adult dry food. As far as the EVO, the salesperson at the natural pet store by me said that even puppies can eat the EVO. It's supposedly not age specific. I worry that about giving a small puppy that much protein but from what I'm reading from your posts, the EVO seems really popular! |

| moist food only Muffinlvr, Yes I am having the same problem with Peanut. He is now eating the moist food and leaving the dry food. What I do now is first add water to the Dry and let it sit for a hour and than mix it with the moist. He is now eating the dry. Each day you could add less moist food.Good luck |

| I know a lot of people are so worried about the high protein levels in the EVO the evo is fine, it's all highly digestible protein, unlike poor quality foods, and the big advantage is that it is grain free. dogs evolved as carnivorous animals and their digestive tract is designed to utilize primarily meat and fat, not carbohydrates. things are different if a dog already suffers from liver disease, and a specialized diet may be necessary, but for that i'd have the dog thoroughly checked by a vet. another misconception that is still floating around is that a food with a high protein content causes kidney damage. this goes back to research that has been declared as outdated quite some time ago. as long as quality protein is used (which is easily digestible), there is no problem Hope that helps. I feed Innova EVO and Love it |

| I've been mixing the INNOVA DRY PUPPY FOOD with SugarDaddy's SCIENCE DIET for a few days now. He really seems to like the INNOVA. The pieces are a little larger with the INNOVA, but they have a little hole in the center (kinda like cat food) to make it easier to chew up. Question, isn't loose stools a sign of upset stomach??? What does it mean if his stools have gotten harder??? Should I speed up the process of switching him over???

personally.. if you think his stomach is already upset.. just get him off the Science Diet.. The stools will still be soft, and that is the dogs way of getting rid of the toxins in its body (the Science Diet).. | |
