| Villette, I really don't know but I would give Vellus a call and see if there products are more for the silk coat?? 800-404-1434 . They have a mini pet bath that you might try with their shampoo and conditioner if they feel it might work. Jan, deals with all coats What do you think Jan?? I think coat handler was meant more for the silk coat. My Molly had a cottony coat and I tried so many things that didn't work but Vellus was not in business then and I just love so many of their products.

| Joan: Hi: Where do i get these products. I have checked some stores. I have a 4 month old female Yorkie. I am scared to cut or trim her hair even though I have the tools. I am waiting until she is older to take it to the groomer. Help what do i do meanwhile? Need something to make her hair smoother, it is growing so it sticks up in the front. Elizabeth |

| Elizabeth, if your baby is only 4 mos. old, I would continue to use something like johnson's and johnsons baby shampoo until you can take her to the groomer. If you want to invest in some shampoo and conditioner, you can google Vellus Products and I think you have to purchase it there and yet it may be some stores for all I know. Coat Handler is avaliable in alot of pet catalogs but sometimes there a minimum purchase so you could go to http://groomstar.com/shampoo_conditi...t-handler.html Let us know how it works out if you decide to get it.

| Oh elizabeth, don't put oil on her (just read that) it is very drying. I would think a conditioner from petsmart would help and if you think it is static Vellus has a static stabilixer ....yes it's spelled with x and not z.

| Thanks so much for all the tips and to Villette for asking about her ear. And it's OK if you "hijacked my thread". I don't mind a bit!!! Yes, her ear is MUCH better, a week after the "incident". She is about tired of dealing with it, as she now hides when it's antibiotic time. I told her we had to continue until it is healed. I think I am going to order a nice pair of scissors and thinners this week and do some more research on the clippers. I figure, hey, if I goof her up to bad, she'll just get another puppy cut!! I have taken her in many times for my mom and have paid attention, so I think I will get the hang of it.

| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm so glad her ear is healing...poor baby I don't blame her for hiding either ....they're just too smart sometimes....It did look like it will heal nicely from the pictures I saw...but that STILL was terrible for the groomer to do The Wahl trimmers I put pics of are so easy to use that you CAN do this yourself - it's just a matter of finding your comfort place with her - and sometimes just sitting her in your lap will work - that's how I do my girls sometimes ...we just sit outside and have a Trim party....they don't mind those trimmers at all. |

| I am a professional groomer. Sounds like you're getting great advice on shampoos and other products. Don't forget her anal glands need to be expressed most dogs don't express them by themselves and unattended they could abcess. But don't worry your vet should be able to show you how. Also be very careful with any shears they're sharp! |

| Yeah I would go with the vet for the anal gland...smells so bad, and lil bear won't let me near her if she knows that's what I'm going to do. I have a question, how do you hold your pups when you use the clippers. After lil bear's bad grommer run in when she was a pup she doesn't mind at all but moose is a different story, she doesn't mind the nails or ears or teeth or sicciors(sp) but start the clippers (which are pretty quiet) and she starts going crazy, she will try to run and then when I start she licks the blade, I usually am able to stop and nothing happens but last time I groomed her she licked and I didn't realize and I nicked her tounge not much but the blood freaked me out I think I was more in a panic then she was.
