| Scratching ear My 3yr old Teddy bear eared dog scratches at her left ear mostly and so ferociously that it makes her cry. Then you can see her walking around shaking her head, as though she had a fly buzzing about her. Sometimes it will wake her and I up, since she sleeps on our bed. It's hard to say if she has an ear infection or yeast infection What remedy do I have available to me over the counter. If it's ear mites can they be seen. We currently feed her Royal Raining for Yorkies. Should we add a vitamin supplement. Makes me want to cry when I see her in so much stress with her scratching. Please help. |

| Sounds like a yeast or bacterial infection. You can't 2nd guess what she has and try over the counter stuff, you must get her to the vet ASAP before it gets worse. Last August my boy had a bacterial ear infection, he was put on antibio for a week or two with a two follow up. With that follow up it turned into a yeast infection, different anti bio was give for a week or two (I forget) with a two week follow, there was still no improvement in his ear. With that follow up the yeast infection turned into two different bacteria infections, he was put on a very strong antibio for two weeks with a 4 week follow up. His ear scratching let up a bit. On the 4 week follow up they found he still had the two different bacteria infection, he was put on the same very strong antibio that can only be given for 28 days with another 4 week follow up. On the 2nd 4 week follow up his ear infection was gone, this was now in Dec. it took 4 months to clear up that ear with all the antibios he was given. So PLEASE get your baby to the vet ASAP, don't let her suffer.

| You need to take her to the Vet now. She is obviously is in pain and either needs an antibiotic or an antifungle.

| Please take your little one to the vet. Ear infections are painful, and do not "go away" without treatment by the correct medication. Don't waste time experimenting with over the counter options when your little girl is in obvious pain.

| Vets see this type of problem frequently and it needn't break the bank to get your little one some real, professional help. Imagine the stress of constantly hurting and/or intensely itching ears you can't do anything about for weeks on end. You'd go nuts - we all would so off we go to the doctor when our ears act up. Our dogs are often left to deal with it however they can until its so severe the dog becomes ill. Repeated scratching eventually damages the ear tissue, setting up still more inflammation, rawness, swelling and discomfort as bacteria take hold. Just the right ointment or shot along with a lesson on how to keep the ears clean can soothe that ear problem right down and get your precious one comfortable again.
