Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Puppy feeding question I just got an 8 week old puppy. She is not my first but she is different from my others in that I cannot leave any food out for her because she will eat it ALL! I am at work for about 7 hours (sometimes a little longer), I used to leave food available for my other pups and it was not a problem. They would eat until full and then quit. She has already had her first vet visit and got a clean bill of health and the vet said some puppies are like that. My concern is that I hate for her to have to wait for me to get home to eat. Any suggestions? |

| I would have food out just for her in her safe place where she stays while you work. 8 weeks is much, much too young to go ling periods without food. I would feed her seperately, or just simoly have everything available for her in her pen. My pup, who is currently 6 months old, does NOT follow the food guidelines as indicated on his puppy food bag. According to the Stella and Chewy's bag, for his size (3.5 lbs) and age (6 months), he does not need more than 2 patties a day. JakJak will eat anywhere from 4-7 patties a day! Not including the kibble I throw in the bowl on top of the Stella's he eats. He is by no means overweight, but instead a healthy and growing boy. I let him dictate how much he wants to eat, to help avoid low blood sugar or vomiting bile due to not having enough food. That is common in very tiny, or very young pups. You have a very young pup, so she is at very high risk for both.

Either way, this puts you in a difficult situation. She's too young to be fed just twice a day, and it sounds like you work during the day, which would make it difficult to try to monitor her meals and offer her food every 2-3 hours. Is there anyone that could help you and offer her food throughout the day?

| She is definitely to young to be left with no food for 7 hours. Maybe you should look at a food dispenser you can set to give food at least once while your gone. That young they can still be in danger of hypoglycemia.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks, this is an option. My husband is normally home but he has to be out of town for two weeks so this sounds like the way to go.😁 |
