YT 500 Club Member | Anxiety Has anyone had a dog that itch due to anxiety? We have tried everything under the sun for him and it has not worked for his itching. My vet seemed to think it could be anxiety. Has anyone used any natural remedies to help their dog that has high anxiety |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What was the result w/ the flea bite situation...? That would take some time before evaluating. Did you see a Derm yet? I've never known of a dog itching severely due to anxiety. But if that were suspected in my dog, I'd most definitely get a prescription med ASAP on board...one that was fast acting -- bc you'd want to see its effect asap in order to rule in/rule out the anxiety suspicion. I would not place my hopes in something natural and unpredictable and unproven when you still don't even know for sure what's going on here. It will just add more and more confusion to the situation and it won't add to definitive diagnosis.

YT 500 Club Member | He has scratched and bit his paws since he was a puppy. I have not seen a flea on him. The vet said most likely the steroids would help if it was allergy related. He still bites and scratches on steroids. |

I'm so sorry your little one is dealing with something for which there seems an elusive diagnosis. My guess that it's time for a second opinion or, as Wylie's Mom suggested, a specialist. At least I believe that anxiety is really a bad state for these little ones. It's not a condition I would want to prolong. My late senior sweetie did have some allergies. Her vet put Katy on a Chlorhexidine shampoo--we used it twice a week. | |
