| ![]() Angel is around 4 pounds and is almost 11 years old. We feed her Wellness Whitefish and Sweet Potato kibble. It has vitamin A 25,000 IU/kg. I was thinking about giving her E.D. Smith Pure Pumpkin, which has vitamin A 70% daily value. How much vitamin A is too much for Yorkies? Would it be ok to give her pumpkin and how much? After we give her a bath, she gets stinky after a week or so. She had a bath on November 26, and she smelled after a while but it wasn't the usual stinky smell. She smelled like poo to me. We gave her a bath a week ago and I noticed the same smell after a few days. My husband shaved her bum and she was scooting on our coach. We've never seen her do that before and haven't since then. We thought maybe her skin was irritated from the shaving. Her skin is dry in the area under the tail and above the anus, but it was like this before the shaving. I wonder if the smell could be from her anal glands? She's never had issues before and we haven't noticed her straining or in pain while having a bowel movement. Her stool seems normal. My niece dropped a Swedish berry on the floor and Angel ate it on November 4. Could this have affected her? Any thoughts? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() I can't really say, for sure, what the RDA is for Vit A - but many dog owners do give pumpkin without any problems. If at all unsure, get an okay from your vet. Some scooting once in a while can be normal as GI issues can just happen, just like in humans. If the area is dry, I'd put some diaper cream or hydrocortisone cream on the area and see if that helps. As far as being "smelly" 1 week after a bath - how is her skin...? Is it dry? Oily? Scaly? Anything else...? What food are you feeding her? On the Swedish Berry - not a big deal if it was just sugar. The main thing w/ candies is if/when they contain Xylitol, which can kill a dog ![]()
