Yorkie Yakker | Need food advice PLEASE!! My 6 yr. old Yorkie, Mya, has developed some digestive issues. She has had diarrhea on/off for three weeks and after seeing the vet and trying to reintroduce her current food (Royal Canin Adult Mini) the diarrhea issue returns. Food change needed. She is very, very, finicky so any advice will be welcomed. She does not like canned food. And I think I want to stay away from chicken. Does anyone use Natural Balance Pet Foods or Canidae? Mya only weighs 4 lbs. and needs the tinier bites type of food. Any ideas out there?

| We have just tried some Halo foods, and Solid Gold wee bits, After a few months on these we have returned to Earthborn Holistics- Coastal Catch. All 3 dogs here are very happy,we have consistent poo and no puking problems! The kibble is small and crunchy, so fine for Ziva's smaller mouth. |

Each time she has diarrhea, have you tried something like Fortiflora to support and calm down her guts? Have you tried feeding a tsp of 100% pure canned pumpkin daily? Is Mya on any digestive supplements? I don't use the kibble you mentioned. Mine are currently on Fromm, which has tiny bites sized pieces. I'd say that if you're feeding dried kibble again (vs the canned), it's helpful to soak it in water first so that it's easier to digest, therefore not upsetting the stomach as much. I'd definitely stay away from treats too!

| Hydrolized Protein My two Yorkies developed digestive issues (ages 15 and 11) and they had been on Royal Canin for quite a few years. The vet suggested Royal Canin Hydrolized Protein (HP), which is especially for small dogs' delicate digestive systems. He also prescribed Tilan (sp?) powder sprinkled on top. Perhaps you could ask your vet about these two remedies. They worked very well for us. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | If you want to stick w/ a kibble, I'd recommend Natures Logic Venison.

Yorkie Yakker | We are currently working on that but when I talked to him yesterday he suggested a Purina product. I don't know why, but I don't think I've EVER heard of anyone feeding there Yorkie a Purina dog food of any kind. Even if it is Rx.??

Yorkie Yakker | Thanks for all the input. Because I'm still relatively new to this, the replies I made to some of you may not "appear"....sorry. I will keep checking back for any advice.

| I'd go with ann's suggestions as well or Fromms- both are excellent suggestions. The problem with the RC rx is the taste. Chewie turned her nose up fast at that brand and she adored the kibble taste of it. We switched to another one but it was much too big for her mouth kibble-wise- the Science diet z/d and the canned just was too.. runny and just too much. |

| Lilah has been on natural balance small breed duck and potato dry kibble as well as the marching canned food for about a year now. She has done very well on it until recently and she is a finicky and difficult girl when it comes to food. She also used to be on RC and didn't like it when the changed their ingredients and packaging. My moms Maltese is on the NB sweet potatoe and chicken formula SB and doing well too.
