Need food advice PLEASE!!

My 8 y.o. Has eaten Natural Balance L.I.D. Small bites for years and done well. She's now been diagnosed with PLE and the Vet prescribed Purina HA the hydrolized food but she won't touch it, of course after reading the ingredients I couldn't blame her! Definitely a Natural Balance fan!

It's interesting how often the vets are "recommending" Purina foods..... My little Mya is now on a Royal Canin Veterinary Gastrointestinal Low Fat and then is getting the Nature's Farmacy Probiotic Max daily and is doing very well. We're so fortunate to have information available from other Yorkie parents here on YorkieTalk!!!!

I think some of Purina's products are just fine, but... A long time ago I did sort of a ball park cost basis per pound on their premium foods and some of the other premium niche market foods. At the time, for the price of the Purina premiums I could get what I felt was a better food elsewhere... Fromms and just recently Nature's Logic as examples. Robyn just reminded me, the Purina Beyond was a feed the dogs really enjoyed, kibble and canned.

I think in general, we've gotten away from chicken and corn by looking elsewhere.... and, at the same or lower price per pound. Our current bag of Nature's Logic Venison is in the $3 per pound range.

I really like the Purina Beyond line, honestly. I NEVER would have thought I'd be feeding a Purina product back in the day.

But the pups do well on it. It's never caused GI upset or anything and I can feed it in a pinch. If I'm traveling and run out of food, etc, I can find it at nearly every grocery store.

I feed the chunky canned foods often mixed with the dogs dry.

I agree, can find it anywhere, the dogs liked it, did real well on it, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again for them.

Oh wow, I hadn't looked at their chewy prices before. I probably compared the full store price plus tax here against the chewy tax free price of the other brands.

That's one of the many things I lurve aboutcha -- your open mind. Even if at one time you don't like this or that, you're not closed off to it, end of story. You always look at the whole picture, you're not closed in by your own opinions...past or present.
