| ![]() I just recently heard that Purinna is buying over merrick. This makes me said I have been feeding my Yorkie merrick Classic for years and love it. I know that purring has a lot of problems though any one know of food similar to merrick Classic?

| ![]() I would personally trust Purina more than Merrick. I would think they will make it better.

| ![]() Interesting thanks so much for your response. I always thought Purinna was frown upon, maybe I'm wrong, so you think it will be alright to stick with it? Thanks again ![]()

I have always avoided Merrick because of the many recalls...but, those were for treats. It was just that it concerned me that a company had so many issues. I am sure others will come along with some feedback for you.

| ![]() Nestle Purina purchased Merrick late July of last year. http://www.merrickpetcare.com/news-c...etcare-company I agree with Linda's suggestion to contact the company to ask if any changes have been made to the food or manufacturing. Then stay on top of the ingredients listed on the bag, watch for changes.

| ![]() I remember 1955....the only dog food that was really available for dogs was Purina, and milk bones....I think that is what it was, memory is shot full of holes!....I used to feed my little dog, and then get right down in his bowl with him and share his kibble....then we always enjoyed a Milk Bone in the evening.....momma caught me after about two years of enjoying sharing my dogs meals, and almost died, rushing me off to the pediatrician, as well as the dentist, to be sure I had not damaged the enamel on my teeth! Now, I think I just heard a recall of Purina within the last week.....thank God I dont still eat Purina! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() OMG!!! I had forgotten all about those!! I did not include them in my diet because momma didnt get those for the dog, so I did not have access to them.....I still buy those huge big boxes of Milk Bones, giant size for the dogs, so no one chokes on a little biscuit....I call those "cookies" and my dogs love them! I just do NOT want to know what parts of dead animals ("renderings") goes into those buscuits....I can tell you one thing.....if the world ever decends into the depths of "hell on earth" and famine is all around, I have no doubt you CAN live off Milk Bones!!!! | |

My babies were on Merrick but after hearing about the whole Purina buy out, I was second guessing to continue. I went to Petco last week and all of the Merrick Classics were on clearance for like $15. I spoke to the associate, she said they were something with the ingredients, that they should probably have a different bag by the end of the month. You know what that means? CHANGES. I've always heard bad things about Purina , so I never really tried it. I'm actually going out to petco today to buy a new brand of food , although I'm not very sure what to switch my babies to. I'm stuck between Solid Gold, Canidae Or nature's variety. Any suggestions?

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() I was feeding mine merrick grain free for awhile, and they loved it, but their coatd suffered horribly. So now I feed a mixture of Royal Canin Yorkie formula and Spots Stew grain free. They love them both and their shiny coat is starting to grow back.

YT 500 Club Member | ![]() Oh and Nestle does evil evil things to people and the environment, so since purina is a nestle company, I try not to buy the products that they put out if I can help it.
