| There are risks, brain function related as this article emphasizes, but the risks can be minimized with a good anesthesia protocol and pre-op exams. My 92 year old grandmother had surgery to remove her ruptured gallbladder and was never the same again. Either something was wrong with the anesthesia, or her body simply couldn't handle it. Not having surgery would have resulted in death from infection in a short period of time.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | My Mom had hip surgery and was never the same again cognitively. I think what the article portrays is to really thing about elective surgery - not necessarily life saving surgery - but even with life saving surgery maybe there is a way to prepare better our bodies for this surgery.
