| my baby lost 3 oz. I have a 3 mth old yorkie. I got her 2 weeks ago and she weighed 1.8 lbs. I took her to the vet today and she had lost 3 oz. The vet said she was not dehydrated. Should I be concerned??

| Did you take her to the vet immediately after you had gotten her, and that 1.8 oz weight was taken on the SAME scale? That little amount of weight could be variance in scales.... Is your baby eating well? Transitioning to new home, family, environment, etc, can throw them off while they get adjusted to new lifestyle/environment. Watch her and make sure no more weight is lost...she is only 12 weeks old and you dont want her going THAT direction in her weight! |

| The weighing needs to be done on the same scale. My Vet and my scale is 2oz difference. Morning weight and evening weight varies. Weigh the same time and right it down from the same scale. My Winnies weight can vary 2oz up and down. But by the end of the week shes up. |

| I took her to the vet immediately and both times she was weighed on the same scales. She picks at her food so I keep it available at all times. She seems to have lots of energy and is very playful.

| I would keep an eye on her weight but would not be too worried yet. Could be something as simple as she is getting more exercise now

YT 1000 Club Member | What has the vet said? She's too small to lose weight. She basically has no give in terms of weight loss. If she picks at her food you may need to change it. |

| The vet just said she was a little thin and to bring her back in a week so she could weigh her again. At jerk size, how much should she be eating? I put 1/4 cup down each morning and she still has about half of that left the next morning.

| Have had her checked for worms? Winnie at that much ~1.8oz. Now 2lbs6oz she will eat ~1/3 cup sometime less. But she get healthy snacks also. I keep track of all her intake. She eats the same or more then Moki my 6#10oz Yorkie. He eats a 1/3 of a cup plus snacks... he has a little chub not much. But they also get mixed fooods with it at least 3-4x a week. Like egg or chicken ect.. So 1/4cup is okay but if shes a little skinny she need more. Mix some egg. I hard boil eggs and just mash some up in a container and add the the foods also. Gets here to eat more. |

| I boiled an egg and mixed half of it in her food. She picked out the egg whites and left the yolk. No shoes not have worms. She poops at least twice a day; firm stool, no diarrhea. I take her back Monday to be weighed again. I hope and pray that she at least maintains the same weight.

| You might be able to encourage her to eat more by putting a bit of parmesan cheese on her food (the smell entices them). Or add a little bit of diced cooked chicken and rice, or cottage cheese or yogurt to get her eating better. Some do better if the kibble is moistened with a little warm water or chicken broth (no salt). Being young and so small, she is at risk of hypoglycemia if she does not eat. Be sure you know the signs to look for, and have nutrical supplement on hand if she shows symptoms.

| When I brought Emma Home, she was under 2 lbs, tiny, tiny. I did not like the food the breeder had her on so I did lots of research. Initially I was going to cook for her but realized I didn't know nutritionally what to give her, she's not a human. For safety sake I went to a holistic pet store and got some samples. She loved Stella & Chewys freeze dried raw dog food. It comes in medallions that you crumple up and reconstitute with a little warm water. She had her annual check up today and the vet says good and healthy! I know there are lots of good choices out there ...get some samples and set up a buffet! Good luck to you! Emmas Mom |
