| Looking for a bland kibble Am looking for recommendations for a bland, healthy kibble to transition our 2 year old over to. We rescued him about 10 days ago, and he was eating PEDIGREE and apparently doing fine on it, but YUCK! One of our dogs is on RC Venison and Potato limited ingredient kibble but it is an RX food. He has snuck a few of her kibbles and does not tolerate it at all. Will upchuck even a couple of kibbles every time and also throws up venison treats. I had some Merricks chicken and veggie (peas?) kibble left over from transitioning our other dog to the venision. We've tried mixing a handful of it in with his Pedigree and he picks around it and leaves it in the bowl. Our third dog is on FreshPet select chicken and veggie rolled food. He will eat a few bites of that, but gets the tummy rumbles from it. He was neutered and had a dental last week so the vet has wanted him on soft food. I cooked him chicken and rice for a few days, and he ate that well but would throw up bile several hours later. I have some cans of Royal Canin Gastro Low-fat and have been feeding him that for the past few days, which is well tolerated. I have been struggling to find a canned food he will eat this week because of the dental and have settled on the gastro but he is about ready to go back to kibble. He really, really loves that Pedigree and attacks it with gusto. I have also been putting it in his Kong and he acts like he just found his best friend. He does not tolerate most treats we give our other dogs well either, but loves those tiny little milkbone treats. Again, yuck. I know there are many more kibbles out there we haven't tried but I am getting frustrated fast with this little guy's food intolerance and could use some suggestions. He seems to only tolerate junky cheap food! We've talked to our vet about it, and she thinks the quality food we're trying to transition him to is just too rich for him since he's used to the pedigree and we just have to keep trying. He is a healthy, 12 pound two year old. There has to be a decent food out there he can eat! Diana |

| Hmmm...my parents have a beagle that has a sensitive GI tract. She does really well on the Natural Balance limited ingredient kibbles. Not as high in fat/protein as other foods we've fed and it also comes in a small bites version. You also might look at Hill's Ideal Balance. The formulas seem pea/potato heavy (like the NB) but are more limited in ingredients as I recall and are also well-tolerated and eaten with gusto by our beagle. Hope you find something that works for this little one! |

| My dogs like the RC Mini kibble or the Yorkie version. The Yorkie version recently changed and I found the mini to be more cost effective.

| I would leave the food alone for now, he's adjusting to enough already. Wait a month or so and then try another food. My 4 dogs ate beneful and mighty dog and they lived to be 14-18 years old, so another month on junk food isn't going to hurt him. As for the milk bones, maybe try the mother Hubbard version. Lola eats health extension little bites and fresh pet rolled food, it took a long time to find food she'd eat. |

| Check the ingredients and analysis on these two. Either one may be bland enough for an easier transition. Our old guy transitioned ok on the senior and smaller kibble versions of each. He'd eat less during the transition but I don't recall any puke or tummy issues. | I would definitely gradually change over and let him get used to everything first. I wouldn't say Jackson has an overly sensitive stomach but I do try to watch fat levels/protein and certain ingredients that I know sometimes causes a bit of softer stool. He does well on Acana Singles (duck and pork versions). But we've also fed Fromm lamb and Farmina with good results as well. He doesn't like very many biscuit-type treats, but the only ones I've found that he LOVES are Purina Veterinary Diets Lite Snackers and I buy them on chewy.com... you don't need a prescription for them, they're low fat and apparently tasty.
