it depends on who you ask and what you consider higher quality. Dog Advisor (who some people don't recommend) rates food according to protein quality. He rates Wellness Core high.

| ![]() Sorry, Teddy hated it, which was a bit concerning since the breeder recommended it and sent him home with it, but oh well! As such, we moved him to Acana which he eats so fast he snorts. Not sure that's great either but at least he eats, right! |

Interesting, I wonder if it's the fat/protein percentage? The grain free is a little higher so maybe that is what they were warning about. Ali is a pup so she is fine with the ingredients for now. The chicken A' La Veg kibble size is close to the RC Yorkie food. It's a flatter piece of kibble vs. the roundness of RC. Ali had trouble with the roundness/crunchability ![]() The Wellness Small Breed that Nancy mentioned is a pretty new product so that's an option too?

| ![]() I am waiting to get a response from my RC rep. I will paste the response on here, as i am also concerned about a major change in ingredients. |

YT 2000 Club Member | ![]() I feed Wellness complete balance chicken and oatmeal and I am very happy with it. My poodle breeder feeds her show dogs that food and their coats she says are beautiful. I agree with her. This is a high quality food. |

| ![]() After all these years of feeding this food with excellent results, no problems, no issues, etc, to now find myself, as my brother says "shot in the a$$" frantically scurrying around, trying to find a dog food that will work as well and been so well tolerated as my RC....I too am in a panic Nancy! I am thinking I may continue to feed the RC, monitor weights and coats and tolerance to the formula change, and if there is not adverse reactions to the new formula, I will continue to feed it.....all the while waiting to hear from the rep. There is no way I could home cook for all these kiddos....and it scares me as a friend of mine was doing it and somehow she screwed up and after a couple of years, her Yorkie's jaw began to deform/weaken/get soft....the vet said that was from something that was missing in her diet (I cant remember the medical name for the condition!) I dont want to go there! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 10-07-2014 at 05:42 PM. |

FWIW, Jackson did not like Orijen but he loves Acana Duck and Pork (from the Singles line). He also does very well on them. He did like the flavor of RC but I felt his poops were too soft and his body condition wasn't the greatest when he ate it. He wasn't on it long though, maybe two months. We've fed Acana the most consistently throughout the years. I always end up back on it lol even through the changes, he still seems to do best on it.
