Oh great! I'm so glad that you went with BalanceIt. Dr. Delaney is soooooooooooo nice and helpful and he is a veterinarian who is also a member of the ACVN so he is a board certified veterinary nutritionist. I've been using the product for 5 years for my dogs. This is unlike some of the authors of the books people have recommended who have no real credentials and are just making stuff up to sell a book. Cherie: let me know if you need any help! I'm not an expert but I am pretty good at some of the practical tips of home cooking!.

| We see a vet nutritionist and internal medicine vet as well. I do not get The Whole Dog Journal. Abigail eats a home cooked diet of sweet potato and blue crab. I add many supplements per my nutrition vet. Abigail is also on prednisone. I would love to stop it but internal medicine doctor said to wait. Her albumin is low but stable right now. Before prednisone her albumin kept dropping and so did her weight. She weighs 4 pounds now. I am constantly searching for ways to help her. Abigail was on Balance It for a year but her potassium went way high so she had to come off and now I use human supplements so she gets less potassium in her food. Since coming off the Balance It her potassium has been good. Both vets we see are wonderful! I am so blessed to have such knowledgable and caring vets to care for both my baby girls. |

Yes, you are blessed to have both...many people don't have the same kind of vet care. So glad that Abigail is doing so well. It is so good to see pups with PLE doing well...some years ago it was basically a death sentence. When Cookie was originally diagnosed I was so upset thinking I was going to lose her. The veterinary community has come a long way in understanding this illness.

| It is interesting that she is on crab....sounds expensive. I'm wondering if my dog Daisy can try crab. I may have to ask our vet nutritionist about that.

| Yes, I was going to say something about that. I never heard of crab ... I bet Cookie would love it.

| I received my recipe yesterday for Zoey. I ordered the supplements and will start the cooking when they arrive.

| Yes, I was actually thinking this might work for Daisy. She hasn't done well on white fish, but can eat sardines and might be ok eating crab. I'll have to see what Dr Remillard can do with that ingredient for her. I bet Cookie would love it too and it might be easier than baking up the tilapia fresh daily as you do. LOL

| You might want to start cooking now and let her adjust to the new food....then start adding the supplements when they come. That's what I did and it worked out well.

| I have a great scale and thanks for the offer. On the paperwork from Balance It they recommended to not start the home cooking without the supplements because the dog can notice the taste has changed and not want it.
