Why should I lie to someone, when in my experience raw food saved my dogs life and yes it's my right to voice my opinion on dry food. Like I said before I expect little snarky comments when I post on here, something I'm perfectly fine about. | |

| yorkie food Hi I have a yorkie puppy 17 weeks and she's also picky I feed her wellness diet I leave her dry food for grazing and she loves the chopped benificial wet food which I spread out in three meals she loves the fresh veg. and meat she would pig out on that if I let her. I have tried a few different types of fresh food and that is her favorite so I think you can't go wrong with those two types of food for your new 4 yr. old yorkie. |

| Yep, my Rosie and the dreaded Science Diet is an example of this. Science Diet I/D was there when we needed it.

| No I'm just wanting you to not call names and put down food that has saved thousands of dogs lives. I have yet to call your food diseased bloody gross mess that carries many things that can cause not only your dog harm and make them sick but little kids and people around your dog harm. Or that the vet assosiation is speaking out about it as being to risky. But ya know I can do that........

This is akin to me saying to you "no bones or other raw garbage pail items of nasty in my house" -- you keep making disparaging remarks about kibble, not only do you not know what you're talking about, but you're highly offensive to the vast majority of people on this forum who choose to feed kibble to their animals. Raw feeders occupy no more than 2% of pet owners. So are 98% of the other pet owners just feeding "nasty" in your view? As a long time home cooker, I feel that home cooking has been a nice approach to feeding my animals. I have my own beliefs and philosophies about it, but there is no denying that there is nothing wrong with feeding a well balanced commercial food and in some cases it is actually BETTER for the animal. I hope I'm just being a little sensitive to your post and that you didn't possibly really want to offend the forum.

| It's it okay to use it as a topper for dry food? I read somewhere about not feeding raw and dry together. Can't remember the exact reason, something about the rate they are digested. |

| LoL....you obviously don't know the difference between your OPINION, a fact and a lie. You Teegy are expressing YOUR OPINION which we have learned to take for what it's worth and MY OPINION is that it's not worth much because it's not based on any pseudoscience just like your mosi-q recommendation. My opinion is that if you come along and give is YOUR OPINION by calling kibble "pellets of nasty" it's going to be taken offensively by a large majority of YT members. I don't understand the thought process here

| I have read that also, but believe it's one of the myths about feeding raw. Ann explained why this isn't so, but I can't find her post. Katie really likes Stella and Chewys, and she also likes Orijen and Primal freeze dried, too. They undergo high pressured pasteurization which makes me feel less uneasy about feeding raw.

Ann's response on 3/30/14.http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-instinct.html The stomach doesn't know any difference whatsoever as to whether you're feeding raw food or non-raw food. It only knows whether you're feeding: carb, protein, fat, toxin - and digests accordingly. So no, you don't only need to feed just raw. You can feed them together at the same meal, separate, or whatever you prefer...the stomach releases the correct chemicals based upon the type of chemical present. You may hear a myth that goes like this: "don't feed raw and kibble together bc kibble digests slower". SIGH. It's like saying don't eat sushi rolls bc the raw sushi will digest differently than the non-raw items. Lol. As if the stomach goes "OH, this is raw sushi, I'm gonna go fast on this one, but that rice is gonna take me forEVER". The stomach does *not* work that way. It digests things according to chemical makeup, not according to time needed to digest. The stomach doesn't know what time it is. When the stomach's job is done on certain contents (raw or non-raw) it then pushes them into the small intestine, it doesn't wait for the rest of the meal to catch up. I sometimes feed NV and love it. I mainly feed Primal raw and love that too, esp the duck flavor.

| Just wanted to add that High Pressure Processing does nothing except disrupt the cell wall of some bacteria. Given that salmonella and listeria have recently made their way into raw foods, I question the efficacy of the high pressure processing. Similarly, it does not do anything for fungi, parasites, or other microbes.

| I like Farmina, have had good luck with it, but I also feed Purina Beyond occasionally (get the small 3lb bags) or Rachel Ray Nutrish wet food/kibble when I'm in a pinch for quick dog food. Wellness is a fine choice too imo. I've gotten a lot less stingy with food lately lol. I kind of just feed what I feel like feeding. Except certain foods... there's certain brands/foods I would never touch, I think Beneful and Ol Roy are pretty nasty for example and I don't think I'd ever feed a Diamond produced food again.
