Which food do you like? I'm adopting a 4 year old Yorkie soon from a hoarding situation. The foster mom says he still is learning how to eat food in one sitting, he's a grazer. So, I'm looking into foods. My old Yorkie at Royal Canine but I'm now looking at Natural Balance or Blue Buffalo. So I'm wondering what you guys like and good for their tummies. Thanks |
I really like Royal Canin for Yorkies and my picky girls loves it. |
I'd probably choose Natural Bal or BB. WELCOME to YT, btw :)! |
We use Royal Canin, but I've thought about changing ever since I heard they changed the formula and use more rice in it than they used to. Our breeder swears by it though, and Bentley seems to love it, so we'll probably stick with it |
I am a fan of FROMM. They are family own and operated US company. They source in the US and make to food at their own personal plant. They have been making petfood since WW2 and never had a recall. |
We use Fromm, but have been looking at Stella & Chewey freeze dried, just can't figure out how to served it - dry? |

You have to add water to the freeze-dried. |
I mostly home cook, but Katie doesn't like to eat early in the morning before I go to work, so I leave out a little kibble in case she is hungry. I mostly use Fromm because I like that they use fresh ingredients and have never had a recall. Sometimes I use Orijen, too. I use a little Stella and Chewys or Orijen freeze dried raw as a topper, and Katie loves them. She eats it dry. |
You might try wet food instead of dry if you want him to eat quickly, most dog love wet food. My friend has one dog that is a grazer and one that gulps. The gulper ate her food then whatever the grazer left in her bowl. Wet food solved the problem, both eat really fast now. |
Thanks for the info folks - can always depend on YT! Just gave Cali her Fromm and topped it with some dry Stella & Chewy and she scarfed it down - this will be great for traveling !!!!!!! |

We feed Bailee Fromm Grain Free. :) |
Wellness is a good product as well. Though I've yet to see if my future soon-to-be yorkie would like it, I know my jack russells love it. If you want grain free from Wellness, the Wellness Core has some good options. |
I use Royal Canin with my puppy. I also home cook for the others girls. One thing I can say is they LOVE the home cooking. Lily liked the RC dry but didn't care for the can food. |
Raw food, or if that's not up your alley, whole cooked meals at home or prepackaged whole foods. No dried extruded pellets of nasty in my house. |
