So now that you're able to compare Dr. Remillard to the dentist I'm sure you'd like to take a look at her website where she answers questions about pet nutrition. PetDiets - President and Founder Oh and when she asks you to pay for advice it for an actual vet nutritional consultation to benefit your dog......unlike the dentist. When she suggests things like Purinas RX or Royal Canin you better believe I listen up

Actually, here's the story. Guess he should have talked to Dr Remillard for a balanced home cooked recipe that Penny would have loved. http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-fo...-tragic-story/

| Yeah, I just read the story. It bothers me that he never specified the cause of death. Losing weight and severe weakness can be caused by lots of different things. |

| Perhaps he should've taken Penny to a vet instead of keeping her at the dentist.

| I am not really sure why the dentist thing has to continually be brought up. I mean yeah the point can be made once to someone who may not know, I've done that before too, but the fact alone that he a dentist does not necessarily = idiot in all other walks of life. As I said, I don't think his word should be taken anymore seriously than any one else on the internet, but it's not even necessarily his lack of credentials so much that bothers me as much as what his rating system is based upon (which is basically ingredients alone). My dentist is a dog breeder along with his wife. Because he is a dentist does not make him automatically unqualified to breed dogs. He is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to dogs as we have had many conversations about them. But for a new member, who is not quite as savvy as some of us 'old timer' members, and maybe not done as much reading, research, etc, I don't think it's smart to drive them off. I would've been very intimidated personally if this were me 3 years ago. Luckily I stuck around and continued to learn. I've changed so much in the last 5 years on YT and my opinions and views have varied. But I've been on the other end before and remember how it feels to have it seem like everyone is sort of... ganging up on you. And I know you don't MEAN it that way, and for us this becomes a very repetitive cycle on forums because the same things are talked about over and over again, and I'm sure I've been guilty of just being very blunt and matter-of-fact when maybe I shouldn't have been but for newer members, this whole world of dog food and dog politics is brand new. Ultimately most people that come here love their dogs and wants what is best for them. There is no 100% right way. There's nothing wrong with a dog NOT doing well on a food that some think is superior. I think RC is a good brand, but I just don't really like the formulas all that much, and I don't believe my dog did as well on it as he has other foods. Doesn't mean I'm calling it a bad food. I just think we all need to remember we were all newbies at one time. And that pet parents tend to get on the defense when they feel their choices regarding their beloved pets are being looked down upon. And while there will always be idiots out there who do really stupid things with their animals - MOST people here on Yt are trying their best, and I don't think one is going to kill their dogs by not feeding the larger foods with more research behind them (Purina, RC, etc) just as I don't feel one is going to be killing their dogs feeding those foods. Nutrition is very important, don't get me wrong, but I truly believe so many other factors come into play first. So ultimately just do what the owner is comfortable with so long as you have a healthy dog.

| I am totally lost as to why three members have been jumped on for having the same opinions others have. AND definitely lost if I am one of those three. I did not treat anyone badly...I posted what I believe to be true. myGirlHalo, you confronted me and I answered you. I was trying to make you see it was NOT PERSONAL. This has NOTHING to do with any member. It has to do with what I believe to be true. As to why I don't just read comments I disagree with and "scroll on".....IF I think it is information that another side should be presented, I will always present it. To make someone upset ?? NO. To share the other side with people who just might use it. To share MY thoughts and MY experiences. So, myGirlHalo, you think I should read what you suggest about the guy when I don't agree and just move on? Again, you said you respect others opinions...uh...I say you don't. I did not call YOU out...it was the other way around when YOU took it personal. myGirlHalo, if you go back and read, you will see that the foods I USE that the dentist would not recommend SAVED my pup. So, if yours was saved by listening to him, that's wonderful. I never said you were wrong....YOU keep ASSUMING that. I SAID that I think he is not someone to listen to....BUT IF YOU CHOOSE TO THATS FINE. AGAIN I DID NOT CALL YOU OUT AND SAY YOU ARE WRONG. I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD SEE BOTH SIDES OF THIS GUY AND I WILL CONTINUE TO BRING IT UP ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE FOODS HE WOULD NOT GIVE A HIGH RANKING.

I am not going to sit here and have people tout this guy as being some expert he is not.....and act like the foods I use are killing my pups. I am on this forum to learn and also to share my experiences. I shared and feel I have been ostracized and wrongly accused for doing so.

That is NOT the reason people are posting about that guy. To attack us and our care for our pups is SO OUT OF LINE. NO ONE ATTACKED YOU OR YOUR PET PARENTING. MAYBE YOU NEED TO READ WHAT YOU WROTE!!!!!

You do care what we think because you're all worked up spilling a billion words on your screen at 2AM. The dentist saved your dog's life but you (the vet tech of 22 years) and your vet couldn't figure it out!??! That's very sad. As for my dogs, don't feel sorry for them, they are living to be 100.

| Exactly. I for one am getting ready to pack my bags. There's nothing more annoying then coming on here and sharing info only to be continuously attacked for my opinions. I am not going to change my views. The fact is that this member said she trusted DFA and I don't think she should. He's a dentist, and he's incorrect. She wanted to keep going with it, and others reading the thread in the future could believe this to be appropriate and it is NOT. And we are egomaniacs who take horrible care if our dogs but saying that is ok. Sitting on my keys now.
