| Is this ringworm???? This has just appeared on Betty Boop's chest. It has a red round ring and is crusty in the middle. I don't see her scratching at all. I don't see any others on her. Looks like a trip to the vet if it doesn't clear up very soon.

| Ringworm will fluoresce under a blacklight. That looks like what my Tink had a while ago. I think I cleaned it with Povidone-Iodine Solution and applied Coconut oil. It went away in a week. I'll try to find the pic.

| Tink's started to spread (I think) but cleared up quickly. Happened right where her halter hits her chest.(The larger spot) The crust in the center came off when I cleaned it. IMG_1313.JPG

| Lila, I would take her to the vet. It could be ringworm, but it looks a lot like staph to me. Has she been scratching much?

| That's what I thought too, and I had made an appointment to take Tink in, but the day before it looked so much improved I cancelled the appt. I did freak though bc under the crust was very black. And Tink was scratching it a lot as you can see in the pic.

I took her to the vet this past Friday. I'm wondering if she could have picked up something. I will be taking her to the vet, I'm sure.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | To me, this looks more like pyoderma (staph intermedius), which is very common in dogs - Wylie's pyoderma looks exactly like this, and like KJC's picture. That said, ringworm presents differently in dogs than in humans, so it can manifest differently (not always showing a ring at all). I'd def get it checked out asap. For pyoderma, they usually give Simplicef x 30 days.
