| Chocolate Poisoning Hey everyone - I hope someone can help me out!!! I think my little 4.5 pound yorkie puppy ate 1 small Trader Joes Dark Chocolate mini pretezel. It doesn't look like it's even real dark chocolate. I am worried though about him dying from it. We gave him some peroxide and he didn't throw up and is actin perfectly normal. It's been over an hour. Any advice?? |

| Sometimes you have to give the peroxide a second time to get it to work, dark chocolate has the highest toxicity but i dont think there is enoufgh on those small pretzels that its going to matter but im not a vet either

| Thanks chachi - yeah I don't think there's that much on the pretzel and also, I don't think it's a high percentage of dark chocolate on it - like when you buy 75% dark chocolate bc it would be listed. I am just nervous. I gave him the peroxide twice and nothing. He is acting normal and fiesty as usual. Just nervous! |

| Yes thanks so much. He is fine. I was soooo worried I made myself sick over it - but I don't think he actually ate it. He was perfectly fine and it's past 24 hours now, so I think we're good. |

| It's very scary. My vet wanted to have him come in to make him throw up and then keep him overnight on IV. He sleeps with me and all I could picture was him crying al night with needles in him and him being all alone. I just couldn't do it. I am so thankful that he is okay. I just love him so much!! |

| Okay this puppy is going to be the death of me. So I was cleaning the bathroom with lysol bleach spray with paper towels and he grabbed one out of the trash and ran with it. He likes to shred tissues and he doesn't really swallow them - he just shreds them and leaves them. I ran after him and got it from him. Should I be worried? He seems fine, I gave him water, and he is acting normally. I am so careful with him and now two things in a row. I am a nervous wreck. The paper towel wasn't saturated just damp. |

| You're so right. He is like having a baby. I just hope he didn't swallow it. After the chocolate and this I am now on high alert with everything. If he did swallow any do you think it would be really bad? |

| No I really think he will be fine even if it was a tiny piece of damp Lysol paper towel.

| Glad to hear your puppy is okay. My boys have both found chocolate on their walks. They gave up the pieces, but a little melted in Teddy's mouth. Luckily I think there is enough wax in some of these chocolate candy coverings to dilute the chocolate itself.
