| Amount & Type of Chocolate that is Deadly, by Weight of Dog Okay so we all know chocolate is bad and no chocolate at all is best. However, at some point, every dog in the universe gets into something they should not have. I found this nifty interactive chart - you just scroll down to the size of your dog and it tells you how much chocolate is deadly or dangerous to your dog. | It is true that it is the theobromide in chocolate that is bad for dogs. Dark chocolate and bakers chocolate have higher amounts than milk chocolate (about 8x), and white chocolate contains very little theobromide so not usually toxic. See the ASPCA poison list for additional substances that are poisonous to pets: ASPCA | People Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Pets

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | As a rule of thumb, keep this in mind: "A dog has to eat 1 ounce of milk chocolate per pound of its body weight to get to the lower dose that would be needed to kill it."
