Thanks Ann. They are environmental allergies. Ugh, allergy season. We will try the Atopica and see if that helps him. And ironically, the vet suggested he wear shoes when I take him outside!!

For year round allergies, your choices are usually: OTC antihistamines, Temaril-P, Atopic, Apoquel, or allergy testing and desensitization

For seasonal allergies (certain pollens etc), you usually use: OTC antihists. Temaril P, steroids

Vet derms usually recommend allergy dog be on a fish oil as it's anti-inflammatory. I like Ark Naturals, as I like the way it's formulated.

I'm reading over different threads about allergies. i came across this one. when your Wylie gets Pyoderma do you take him in to the vet every time or is there something you can do for him without taking him in?

Great question. IF I can catch it SUPER early, where it's just localized to, for example, a few pyoderma patches near the base of his tail or on his tummy -- then I can use Muciprocin ointment from the vet and put it on those areas and it will sometimes resolve. If it's too late and is already pretty profuse (which can happen fast!), then I call the vet and she'll fill a prescription for me without having to bring him in as she knows he has recurrent pyoderma.

Is one of your kiddos struggling w/ recurrent pyoderma? If so, I may have a strange new tip for you regarding the use of Angel Eyes.

Yeah he getting red tummy and some grey round patches on tummy. Was having issues with anal glands and ears vet suspected food allergy had me feed Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein which was fine but now red tummy and ears and grey patches. Will call to take him back in this week.

Jackson is scratching so much. I changed his food to lamb and rice and he stoped for a while. I read to put olive oil on his food does anyone do that. If so how much He is a 4 pound sweet heart.

I'm having the same issues now, but he's not biting or itching out of the ordinary. I think it is from rolling in the grass as well as digging in the ground to eat the dirt and grass. I am trying to keep him from doing it which is near to impossible. I went tot he ER today and all they did was give me some antibiotics. How is your dog doing now~?
