| Toxins from sultanas Hello Yorkie Mammys and Daddys . . . I gave my Yorkie sultanas, about seven in total at 7.30 in the evening, after I did I looked up google to see if they had any health benefits. To only find out my dog was going to show signs are vomiting (in almost all cases), diarrhoea, anorexia, abdominal tenderness and lethargy. Ingesta may be present in the vomitus or faeces. WELL I nearly died!!!! My poor little doggie . . . It was the weekend, Saturday night and I live in the hills. She was fine, nothing happened, she ate after, had a poop and went to bed that night. But I took her into the vet on the Monday to make sure, Got a pee sample and it was perfect!!! I was so upset, not all dogs get toxic effects, but I will never ever EVER give her another Sultana for as long as I live. |

| I had to google what a sultana was lol. I didn't know about raisins and grapes not being safe for dogs before I got my own dog...prior to that, my family used to feed our beagle grapes (among other fruits) as treats...we had no idea at the time! Luckily most of the fruits I eat now I can share with the pups without worrying...they love blueberries, strawberries, green beans, sweet potatoes, bananas, etc! Glad your pup suffered no ill effects! |

| Thanks for the reply, and happy your doggie is ok as well. I also LOVE blueberries, strawberries, sweet potatoes, bananas and green beans a little less. But will give them to her to see if she likes them. . . . As for the google of sultana . . . My mammy says "you learn something new every day" Be safe.
