| New teeth are coming in. Normal or not? I was checking Leo's teeth and on his top and bottom canines he has a new set coming in but the baby teeth are still there. Does this mean he'll need surgery?

| Toki's bottom canines took a while to fall out but eventually did on their own...I gave her lots of chewing things and played tug of war with her. The top canines on the other hand just wouldn't budge so those two had to be removed. How old's Leo? If he hasn't been neutered yet, you can have the vet just go ahead and pull all of those puppy canine teeth out since he'll be under anyway (That's what we did with Teddy...he got neutered, upper canines pulled, and microchipped all in the same day while he was under). |

| Ah! There's still time for the teeth to come out on their own then in the meantime. I would just try to keep them as clean as possible until they fall out or when Leo gets neutered in a few months. Both of my pups got all kinds of gunk from toys and food stuck in the groove between the baby and adult canine teeth so I had to be pretty vigilant on keeping them from getting build up. |
