| Safe Treat Ideas My poor baby gets sick really easy. She is never fed anything not made in the USA but most everything we have tried store bought she doesn't like or is burnt out. We do small amounts of America cheese or a baby carrot a few times a week. Any tips

| In some healthy pet food store, you can get dehydrated chicken, fish, liver. Or you can make your own dehydrated sweet potatoes, or chicken jerky. If you make it yourself and buy quality ingredients, that is probably the best. |

| I have done it before and she loved them. I wish I had a recipe for it. The potatoes didn't last very long they turned to mold I guess we didn't do it just right.

| I make my own jery, from beef or chicken. Just take some meat and use dehydrator. My pets love them. And I am sure that they don't get anything artificial. Sometimes, even if treats are made in USA, they are made from meat from China. Really - you don't know what they put in these comercial treats (same thing with kobble, btw).

| Raw meat, organs, bones. Chicken, beef, turkey, lamb, musk rat, bison, sometimes beaver. My oldest pet is 8. Never sick, always active.

| After a long talk with the groomer (who has worked at the vet for over 30 years before starting her own business) suggested Ritz bits peanut butter & crackers for a quick treat or Cheerios. We have thrown out everything we had for her and going with if we can't eat it neither can she. Of course we know she can't eat everything we can either.

| Tibbe's got MVD and can't eat regular treats so I make his out of his hepatic kibble that he's allowed to eat. I soak his kibble, then microwave it or bake it to give it additional and different texture, cooking it a different speeds and time lengths to get different results and textures. Sometimes I will turn it out on a pan and dry the treats out and other times put them in a closed container but all of them are kept in the refrigerator after the cooking. Other times I just lightly add some water, stir them up with my fingers for 3-4 minutes to tease out the gravy and refrigerate them. Tibbe loves his treats however I make them and works hard to get them when training. He'll do just about anything for his treats!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I too was going to suggest buying a dehydrator and maybe making your own treats. Have you tried CET chews? Those are nice for many dogs.

| ZoE eats tiny pieces whatever healthy treats I have on hand, such as apples, pears, bananas, oranges, carrots, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, string cheese, peanut butter, cheerios. I also make my own jerky, and sweet potato chips. I was going to buy a new dehydrator (I had one years ago & it died before my house move), then I had the idea to check how low the temperature of my newer wall oven in my current home goes. It goes down to 170°, which works great. So now I make jerky and chips in my oven. If yours went moldy quickly, it probably wasn't dried out enough. It take about 3 hours to dry the chips and 4-5 hours to dry the jerky. I'll be making some later this evening, so I'll try to remember to take photos and post what I do later tonight.
