				 | Ok, I'm thinking of hitting up the grocery store tomorrow and testing this out on our dogs. My dads dogs are HORRIBLE eaters. They act like feeding them is just... a disgrace. I even mix real meats, etc, in with their kibble, and they often walk away from their bowls. So I've given up and decided to stop worrying so much about it. But I was talking to my dad tonight and if they eat regular food, w/o kibble, he may be interested in just adding the supplement and cooking them people food. So I think instead of doing the carnivore blend, the easiest thing for me would be rice. That's something easy to mix in w/ the chicken, and he probably will eat it easier than any of the other carb sources. So this is the recipe generated for Jackson: JACKSON'S HOMEMADE FOOD RECIPE IngredientsGramsAmount(1)Chicken, thigh, meat only, cooked280.0 g2cup, chopped or diced(2)Oil, canola0.6 g1/8of a tsp(3)Rice, white, long-grain, regular, cooked118.5 g3/4of a cup PLUS4 5/8 teaspoons (9.25 gram) of Balance ITŪ Canine once a day 1 bottle of Balance ITŪ Canine will last about 64 days Per Above Recipe: 631 Calories; 45% protein calories (281 Calories); 34% fat calories (216 Calories); 21% carbohydrate calories (133 Calories); 66.2% moisture. Notes: These percentages do not correspond to the percentages listed on commercially made food. Is this better than the carnivore blend? The calories are a lot higher than recommended for him though. 631. His food now is 430 kcals/cup and he only gets 1/2 cup of kibble per day plus canned and a few treats etc.

				 | I don't know about the calorie thing....but I DO know that the nutritionist told me that the amount of food would be way more than Cookie was used to. She said to let her know if she did not want to eat it all. Oh please, she ate like a little piglet and loved it...still does two years later AND she has maintained her weight! I was thinking she might gain but she did not.

He would be so fat. I like to keep him in good shape and lean, especially since he's involved in agility, and other sports. This is what he maintains while typically eating 1/2 cup of kibble, a spoonful of wet food, a Dentastix, and a few treats every day (I up his food with excess exercise, such as swimming daily): 6f26fbcb-99c8-4d78-b39c-9ceb533386ac_zps34ba74d4.jpg eb354bc3-628d-4716-a33f-1d78180c896c_zps00691f43.png So I just don't wanna start feeding him this food and have him balloon up, LOL... or act like he's starving all the time and want more. lol. My dads dogs... their long haired Dachshund/spaniel mix is prob 23lbs now and he is overweight. He really should likely only weigh about 15 max. Lilly the JRT mix is about 13lbs. She's in decent shape. Could maybe lose 1lb.

				 | I'm intrigued...lilah loves her peas, carrots and green beans frozen but does not like green beans just plain raw. She seems too skinny to me right now, loves her wet food, not all that excited about her kibble but will take mouthfuls throughout the day... My wheels are turning...

I am worried he will eat sooo fast lol. He is like a vulture when it comes to human food. He will eat it up in like 2 seconds lol. I am not even sure he chews. I guess I am just kinda scared to rock the boat, because he's actually doing very well right now, so there's no real "reason" to change other than just trying to do better. And yes we def want the doxie to lose weight.

				 | Ohh I just saw the spaghetti recipe! haha Jax would DEF eat that. I have a feeling w/ the rice, he'd end up leaving a lot in the bowl (that's what he does when I give him some rice/chicken type meals, just for fun). But spaghetti he would def eat! Intriguing...

				 | We're doing pretty good over here! I've made a few different recipes (one with scrambled eggs and a couple with chicken with various veggies)...I'd like to try making one with white fish next if I can find a good price somewhere. Toki definitely loves it and seems to be doing well so far! |
