Does he like the food or not!? HELP! So I have a 6 month old, 2.5 lb Yorkie, the love of my life And I have had him on Orijen puppy for a little over 2 months and was eating just fine, and then at times not all and at times some of it. I have been feeding him 1/4 cup twice a day. I am worried he is not eating enough and am not sure why. The vet said it can be normal because of his size, and him just getting full quickly but then that doesnt explain the days he ate it all (in my mind). Could this be he doesnt like it and I should switch or is this really normal!? I have read they are picky as it is and you shouldnt give in so I am worried to do so. I have also read that you shouldnt give them wet or gravys because then they get used to it and wont eat without it. Im so STRESSED!! I dont know what to do for him. HELP PLEASE

Hi, do you leave the food down all day or pick it up after a certain amount of time. As long as they are eating. All of it some of the time I would not be to concerned. Milo was never one to finish all his food when given to him so I leave I out all the time and he free feeds, I would try that first.

I do not free feed, read a lot about it being bad and keeping them on a schedule is important. My vet said the same thing. Ido leave it put for a couple hours after i set it out for him though. Should I be free feeding?

I think if you leave it out for a few hours that is close to free feeding. I think when you feed on a schedule the point is to only leave it out for like 15 min. And if they do nor eat it take it away from them for 15 min. And try again. The hope is eventually they learn that the food won't be there forever so they better eat now.

Oh dear well thats good to know! I thought since i didnt have it out all day then it wasnt free feeding. so I started adding shaved apple to his kibble that he didnt finish initially, and it worked last night! But not so well this morning . He tends to not be as hungry in the morning as he is at night. I also will be receiving sample from Call of The Wild, would it be okay to try him out on this? I was told that Yorkies have very sensitive tummies and to be careful with the food I try and change around.
