| Not drinking--not urinating Hi, Newbie here. I brought my girl home Friday afternoon and she is 12 weeks old and 2.5lbs. She slept for 8-9 hours straight both nights. She has now gone 9 hrs without going, I know that seems impossible but she has either been in a playpen (easy to see piddles) or right next to me. I have done nothing this weekend except watch her like a hawk. We have been on hard surfaces all the time so I know there have been no "mistakes". She went a LOT this AM around 7:00 but nothing since. Any suggestions on how to get her to drink more? I have been using bottled water--maybe too good? She also has not been eating much, thus no BM. Now she just wants to sit on her pee pad and do anything but pee. This has been very nerve racking as I sure she is going to get dehydrated soon. I have put water on my fingers and she will lick it and take a few laps of the bowl, but that is it. Help?! Sorry to ramble..... Jan |

As soon as I offered water in a stainless steel bowl, he lapped it up. We use glass now. I also agree with hand feeding. Max was a little stinker and made me hand feed him for a year. He would perform tricks for his kibble. I sped up the process a little by loading his KONG with the kibble. Continue feeding the same food the breeder fed. Check her gums for stickness or paleness which can indicate dehydration, and watch for hypoglycemia.

| How is she doing today? I hope she is drinking more and settling in. No matter what, you should take her to your vet for a puppy wellness check. Most breeder health guarantees require this, and it is just a good idea.
