| Claritin for Allergies? Barney just started to take Claritin for his allergies. Does anyone else use it? And have you had any noticeable improvement? Poor Barney had been coughing and sneezing, his eyes are runny and he has dermatitis in between his toes. It all came on suddenly and we think as Barney's gotten older he has a harder time handling the allergens. Bet is starting conservatively buy if it doesnt work, we will consider Temeril-P. Any thoughts or experiences about Claritin?

| His heart is good. The vet said heart and lungs sounded good. Remember I had it checked before the leg surgery? He has chronic valve insufficiency but otherwise is normal. I was suppose to bring him back after a year but I didn't feel like spending the $

| Thanks me too. He hacks up a lung in his sleep. I have to take him out of the air condition and let him catch his breath outside where the air is more humid. Poor guy

| In the past I used claritin for my allergies and it helped. Never used it on dogs so I wouldn't know if it helps.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Tried it, did nothing. Also tried Zyrtec, and I think that worked slightly better....but not that much.

| Not sure if you want to know about people or dogs, Cathy? Lol. If you want to know about people, I have been on Claritin for years. If I forget to take a pill, I am an allergy mess. It is a miracle drug for me. I do take the generic form.

| The Claritin is working! His eyes stopped running and he hasn't coughed or sneezed. However his interdigital dermatitis is still itchy so he is keeping the e collar on for now. So far we seem lucky with Claritin.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This is just FANTASTIC, Cathy. I'm so happy for you. Having dealt w/ allergies, I really know how tough they are on dogs....so I'm thrilled you found an easy solution. Yay!

| What kind of dosage are you using? My Rico has allergies too. He was on shots but not now. When he has an episode, I give him Benadryl. Never thought of anything else. |
