| Heartworm Meds What heartworm medicine do you use? Where do you usually get it? Our vet has given us prescription for Heartguard + (for small dogs), he let us know that if we get it online it would be cheaper. My main question is, is it the best heartworm medication? |

| I think some use an all in one that includes treatment against fleas, but I use Heartguard Plus. Mandie doesn't have an issue with fleas and if she did, I'd probably just use the drops. She likes the way Heartguard Plus tastes so I'm sticking with it.

| I use the Heartguard plus also, I use either Advantix II or Frontline Plus as a preventative for fleas and ticks. The Heartguard Plus is very inexpensive at my vet.

| Since Interceptor is no longer made, I now use Sentinel. I buy a years supply at the vet's office. It's only slightly more expensive than online, but I don't mind paying a little extra to support my local vet, as the care him & his staff have provided ZoE has been amazing.

| Jackson is very picky and he also loves Heartguard Plus. We give that monthly and yes I do buy online (with a prescription from our vet). We got it from DrsFosterandSmith for a great price. We use K9 Advantix as needed for fleas/ticks. I probably only give him a couple doses per year.

| Heartworm meds We got our 1st. Yorkie in Nov. & started her on Revolution, which is topical. When we got Spike we stayed with the same routine. I get it mail order & the company will match any US pharmacy's price. I found a fantastic price for a year's supply & they not only matched it, but beat it. |

| As long as no one has a canary over this. We use: 1-800-PetMeds. I know some people are very much against mail order pet medications but we've never had any problems with this company. We used to have a golden retriever & cats (one cat at a time) & have been using 1800Petmeds for 29 years. Their prices are great & cust. svc. is terrific. |

| We use Heartguard Plus now. I get it at Drs Foster Smith because it is so much less than out vet. They call the vet and get the rx.

| I have looked into getting meds over the internet but ya never know what your going to get..it's all about your personal preference. Also, many mail order companies charge shipping unless you purchase a large amount. Some have free shipping on orders over $50 and others are even higher than that. I put that into consideration when purchasings meds from my vet. I get the generic Heartguard Plus called Iverhart Max from my vet. It costs me $20 for 6 months. Also just for added information, Walmart is now carrying many pet prescriptions, including heartworm meds, both name brands and generic!

| I've used Dr. Fosters and Smith when my vet was not able to get a medication my little angel needed for her dementia. With heart worm medication, you need to make sure the company who makes it will guarantee that medication should your pup get heart worm. With Dr. Fosters and Smith, they will. I'm not sure about other mail order companies.
