| ![]() I was just reading about a food that was mentioned on another thread. The company name is Horizon. They make a few different formulas. Amicus is their formula for small dogs. They make a puppy, adult and senior formula. It looks like a decent company. The protein is lower than Orijin if that is important to you. I have not found the protein content to be as important as the quality of the protein used. Quality proteins are easily processed and eliminated. The Horizon Legacy also looks good. I am really cautious about highly processed foods like kibble but this one looks like it is made using less of a heat process than most. |

| ![]() We feed Amicus and Legacy in our rotation. I would say I feed the Horizon foods about 75% of the time and the Fromm Four Star foods about 25% of the time. Horizon seems like very good food and is very highly recommended where I buy the dogs' food.

| ![]() I was reading about the Horizon foods and wondered if you could tell me what the size of the Legacy kibble is? Is it much larger than the Amicus kibble? |

| ![]() The Legacy kibble is not real big, maybe double the size of the Amicus kibble and just slightly larger than Fromm kibble. My dogs don't have any trouble with it. My smallest adult dog is my 7 lb maltese and she eats it with not trouble at all. I just got a silky puppy a week and a half ago and have been feeding the Amicus adult formula. She loves it and has no trouble with it. I contacted Horizon and they told me the only difference between the Amicus adult and the Amicus puppy formulas is that the puppy formula has a little bit more protein and fat. All other things are exactly the same. They told me the adult formula is just fine for our silky puppy. We will eventually rotate back in the Legacy and the Fromm to see how she does on them. I'm sure she will not have any trouble eating either of those foods. For now though, I think I'll just keep them on the Amicus so that we don't upset her tummy. I don't know what the heck she was eating from the breeder, but it looks like a mixture of foods. They mentioned a couple different brands of foods, so I think they actually mixed them together. They gave us a quart size ziplock bag of that food, which Bella Rose did not even want to eat after she discovered the Amicus.

I feed raw but my sister does not want to deal with raw so the Legacy sounded like a good alternative. We both like to feed as close to natural as possible. | |

| ![]() Horizon does have trial packs. I would contact Horizon and ask for trial packs of Legacy, and maybe even Amicus and Pulsar too. I'm sure they will help you out.
