| updated sticky needed for Heart Worm and tick I am needing a quick overview on the various meds out there for ticks and notice the sticky is from 09. Can someone do a new one because I know a lot has changed. I am so worried about what to do, so last year Lola had the chewable heart worm prevention but no tick meds. I don't worry that much about ticks since we are not in the woods very often, but this year I will be doing a lot of traveling with her. Every time she gets a vaccine she throws up and I remember my last yorkie acting crazy after I applied one of the topical's on him. Also I never worry about flees now this year we are spending a week at the beach in NC so perhaps I should worry about that. oy vie, I hate thinking about this, but I know I have to.

| well there is a natural tick repellent you can make but the fleas in my area were not repelled by the natural so i had to go back to a topical. i hear that frontline has a new product out for both....im going to swtich from revolution to something but still have one month left of revolution. that is the only one that doenst make cedric sick but it has no tick protection which is why i need to switch.

| This is how unaware I am, I found out Revolution and Sentinal were Heart worm and flea meds, So I will stick to the chewable Heartguard, since not one of my dogs have had a problem with it, Last year I tried one application of what they still use for fleas and ticks which is called Parastar they also are now using Activyl, so I guess I need to find out more about that. Anyone reading this that has any opinions on anything I listed please jump in. I have until Monday morning to decide exactly what I want to do thanks

| Luma's heartworm medicine (Worm Shield, same ingredient as Heartguard, ivermectin) got recalled ...now I have to research the other brands. Seems like every brand has some sort of drawback! Maybe we should make a poll as to who uses what? I don't have Luma on any flea prev. and never have.

| I use Heartguard Plus for heartworm monthly. K9 Advantix for fleas/ticks as needed.

| Any suggestions yet! I have a little one so I don't want anything too toxic and just want to protect against heartworm. Have there been any negative reviews of sentinel?? |

| I keep going back/forth between Heartgard Plus vs Sentinel too!!!! Maybe I should give Sentinel to Magnus and keep giving Heartgard Plus to Zoey since she seems to do well on it. |

| Hi all ; Writing from Canada, where heartworm is not much of a problem. We have some great holistic vets and one of my favorite is Dr. Peter Dobias. He has an interesting article regarding Heart worm. Are drug companies honest about Heartworm? Dr. Dobias Healing Solutions In the States, Dr Pitcairn is the godfather of holistic veternarian practices. He also a great resource regarding vaccinations and hwp. |
