If they hadn't carried it, I would have requested a prescription because Dr. Foster & Smith has a year supply for $56. My vet is charging $78 for a year with a $20 rebate....I don't know if the rebate is also offered for an online purchase. Personally, I don't mind paying a little more at my local vet, as he's reasonably priced in his services, so I'm ok with paying a lil extra on some things if it helps keep a great vet in practice in my small town

| I am using Heartguard and Advantix II the only reason I switched from Heartguard to Intersceptor was because my little male would not eat the Heartguard! I now have to mix the Heartguard with some chicken to get him to eat it! I talked to a lady at the vets office who bought Trifexis for her Pom. She was back for a third or fourth time after her dog almost died from a reaction to the Trifexis. She had bought a six month supply and the company would not even give her a refund for the unused product! I am very afraid of it! I like Advantix II cause it keeps ticks off my babies who love to walk everyday! We also have a lot of Mosquitos around here and it is good for those too. I agree that you have to find what works for your fur baby and go with that! My vet suggested Trifexis when interceptor got recalled but I just don't trust it! |

| Both of mine are on Trifexis with no reactions and I love the fact that flea/tick control is built in along with other parasites. We live in the city but still have all kinds of wild animals around since they have been displaced. Haven't seen a flea yet and I am terrified of them getting ticks - we have deer that go through our yard and I don't want them to get Lyme disease. I also like the fact that I don't have to put anything topical on them that they can lick off. My own preference though.

| My yorkie has epilepsy and can't tolerate the heartgard (triggers seizures)or trifexis (not rec. for epi dogs). Has anyone tried Sentinel with an epileptic yorkie? I still have a bit of Interceptor left but I figure I better start looking for an alternative. |

ETA: if it is triggering your dog in particular, then don't use it.

My intention in asking if anyone with an epi yorkie has used Sentinel was not to enter into a debate as to Heartgard causing seizures or lowering seizure thresholds in certain dogs. | |

| When I asked my vet about Trifexis, her exact words were "Hell NO!". She will not give it to a dog under 5 pounds, and only reluctantly to one under 10.

| My furkids Donating Member | Hi Taylor! I am upset about no more interceptor as well...finally found something just right for them and now I can't get it any longer. I was also concerned about the flea control in the sentinel and trifexis...I spoke to my vet about both of these. My little Bentley has had a couple of episodes where they THOUGHT it may have been seizures...it was not but was seizure "like"...(long story) that being said,...the trifexis was out! dogs that are seizure prone should not be given the trifexis...sentinel...on the other hand is safe for all of them...including Bentley. My vet told me that sentinel can be given to puppies and pregnant moms. She also told me that it is safe to apply a topical flea treatment with the sentinel. I hope this helps set your mind as ease

| Took Zhoie to her vet on Tuesday for heartworm test as we need to get on a new med since our Interceptor was gone. Her test was clear, we discussed what to put her on and he strongly suggested Sentinel, as he has not had a dog have a reaction to it and said it is a proven and safe drug He also said it has the exact same drugs as Interceptor with the addition of flea med and it has a dose for 2 -10 lbs for these little ones. It's a small tablet and no problem getting Zhoie to eat it. I gave it to Zhoie with her breakfast yesterday and watched her closely. I'm happy to say she had no adverse side effects
