We all have to do what we got to do . . .Its hard to tell from the photo. Im having difficulty figuring out heads or tails. Just be careful and continue to check her and keep her away from intact males !!

I forgot to update you all regarding Roxy's panting. I think it was just the weather. Now that it has gotten cold here again she is back to her normal self. I had her birthday mixed up with the date of the month that she came to live with us. She is 6 months old today and I can't wait for 6 p.m when I walk back into the house and can spend the evening playing with her. Thanks for all the answers and I hope to get her spayed soon.

Well it's official my Roxy is in heat. I guess a few weeks ago was the warning period but since I never saw any blood and the male dog I took her around didn't go banana's so I thought all was good. She just lost another baby tooth last week and I have been patiently waiting on her to lose the last few and my work schedule has been crazy lately, so I haven't scheduled her to be spayed yet. I just read a little information about how long I need to wait before taking her in but she will be going as soon as this is over!! She doesn't seem to be in any pain but she isn't playing very much and she drinks more and eats less. I feel like a bad mommy for thinking everything was ok. She will be watched like a hawk and fixed in June. If anyone has any advice about keeping her clean and comfortable please pass it on.

If Roxy still has any retained baby teeth when she is in for her spay, you should see if the vet suggests removing them while she is under anesthesia for the spay. This is to avoid having to take her back in again and submitting her to anesthesia again so soon if the teeth are not willing to come out on their own (which is common in small breeds).

As for her heat just let her do what comes natural. She will keep herself clean. You may want to keep her off of your furniture because it will stain. But if it gets to the point where you think she isn't maintaining herself you could always put her in a some doggy diapers/panties. You will need a liner if you do, I just used women pantie liners that you find anywhere.
