Heartgard should be chewed not swallowed whole. Empty stomach is fine.

All except for Lexi, they will not take it if they have eaten. I found that out the first time I gave it to them. They had always been on Inteceptor with no problem. The second go around I gave the Heartgard first then fed them. They took it okay then. I think their little tummies are so tiny they were just to full. lol!!! I break theirs up to except for Lex. (mini schnauzer). She gulps hers down. I was so afraid they would not like it and I guess they were just full that one time.
