I asked the breeder what to feed him, how often and if I had to get up in the night with him...he told me to feed him twice a day, a larger meal earlier in the day and a smaller meal later, also not to give him much to drink before bed.
Pooky slept in a soft sided doggie crate next to our toy poodle until 4 a.m. the first night...then my husband and I woke up to use the bathroom and woke him up...so he made a few peeps, I wrapped him in a baby blanket and he slept with me the rest of the morning. The next night and since then, he sleeps in his purse ON my night stand...works great. If he makes a peep, it's dark, I chich and tap his purse so he knows i'm there and he's quiet...gets up when I want him to and does his business in the yard, then I set his 1/4 cup of Royal Canine out with fresh water. He takes all day to eat, which I don't mind. I think it takes us time to get used to them. If I were to have gotten up at 4 a.m. that first morning, let him go potty and have a drink, I'd been done in with that new routine and wasn't going to fall for it. |
Hi! Princess Sophie is only 9 weeks old. My vet told me she wants me to feed her 4 to 5 times per day a teaspoon or so each time. I have been feeding her 1 tablespoon three times a day and she pretty much eats it all up so I think she's eating just fine. She didn't seem interested in eating more often, just more when she did eat. She has food available all day long and I offer it to her each time she wakes up. Sophie seems to wake really easily as well. This morning after she slept 8 hours, I got her up to pee. My DH was starting to get ready for work and Hansel (who sleeps in his bed on the floor) barked to go outside. Well Sophie didn't really want to go back to her crate so I brought her into our bed, she tucked her head into my side and went back to sleep for almost another hour. It was great and I know...this is probably something I will continue. LOL I knew she would end up on our bed!
