Already sleeping through the night? The last two nights Princess Sophie has slept 8 hours through the night, and more during the day. My DH and I suspect a growth spurt cause her back end seems bony and she is taller than when she first came home. LOL My question is, should she be already sleeping through the night? I'm in no way complaining just wondering. We have switched her over to the Canine Caviar and she is eating well (3 to 3 1/2 tbsp each day. I havent gotten her to eat more but I probably could supplement with the Science Diet I got from the vet to encourage her to eat more. I went to order canned CC and found I had to purchase a case. I don't want that much wet food as I don't plan on continuing to feed her wet as she grows up. She seems very happy. Plays a lot, eats and drinks, takes good naps throughout the day and loves to chase our mini schnauzer (Hansel) around the kitchen and den. Am I forgetting anything or have I just really lucked out with Sophie?? |
Blazer slept through the night on his 3rd night here (granted, he was up at 6am but still!) I don't feed CC so I can't help you there. You may be a very lucky one with a great sleeper for a pup! Congrats! =D |

Teeka started sleeping through the night on the second night we had her! She sleeps with us and always curls up in the crook of my arm. She is also a good napper during the day! I don't have any additional info on the dog food but it sounds like Sophie is settling in and very comfortable with her new family! :) |

You are really lucky the first week I got Honey she went to sleep at 9:30 woke up at 12:30 then again at around 2:45. It sucked because I had to be back up for work at 5:30. Finally after the first week she slept the entire night I was so happy. |
ZoE slept through the night on the third night I had her (she was 6 weeks & 3 days old)....that's also the night I took her too bed with me, cos I was exhausted from getting up every half hour the previous two nights, when she realized she was alone, and cried & cried, until I held her, got her back to sleep, when back to bed myself, she woke up, cried, I got up, held her, got her to sleep, when back to bed, she woke up, cried....you get the idea...two nights of this & I was an exhausted wreck. Took her to bed with me on the third night & she slept right through until her feeding time. She's been there ever since & is still a great night sleeper at two years old. Can't speak to the CC, as I don't feed it. I'd say you lucked out! :) |
They usually get up to pee, not to eat. All I can say is lucky you, Joey wasn't sleeping through the night till about 6 months! |
Yep...Wallee slept 8-9 hours a night when I got him at 12 weeks. Now it varies as he is much more active and if he doesn't get burned out or if he has to pee ge will sometimes wake earlier. |
This is all such a relief to me. My skin babies didn't sleep all night this early. LOL I'm just thrilled that Princess Sophie has made such wonderful friends on YT. She knows we can come to you all anytime, day or night, and will receive warm encouraging words. Thank you all so very much!! |
I'm extremely happy cause my little Dexter has also slept through the night, 2 nights in a row already! We walk him around 11PM before bed and he woke up at started whining at 7:15 this morning. We also feed Canine Caviar, but I can't say he is too huge of a fan of this food. We have to mix in other stuff with it. Does yours eat it straight? |
Galen is such a good boy sleeping too. He is being picky with his food though |

As for the food, Sophie will eat it straight but I have been mixing in some canned food the second meal of the day because I think she needs to eat more. She seems to be getting long and bony. But she eats the CC dry at every other meal and I think she's eating pretty well. I've been logging how many tbs. of the CC she's been eating and we are up to 4, so I'm pretty confident she's doing pretty well. |
Pooky is 13 weeks old today...Sophie is the same age right? I think a lot of it has to do with age and what the breeders routine may have been but they should adapt to our routine. I'm glad too!!!!! I asked the breeder what to feed him, how often and if I had to get up in the night with him...he told me to feed him twice a day, a larger meal earlier in the day and a smaller meal later, also not to give him much to drink before bed. Pooky slept in a soft sided doggie crate next to our toy poodle until 4 a.m. the first night...then my husband and I woke up to use the bathroom and woke him up...so he made a few peeps, I wrapped him in a baby blanket and he slept with me the rest of the morning. The next night and since then, he sleeps in his purse ON my night stand...works great. If he makes a peep, it's dark, I chich and tap his purse so he knows i'm there and he's quiet...gets up when I want him to and does his business in the yard, then I set his 1/4 cup of Royal Canine out with fresh water. He takes all day to eat, which I don't mind. I think it takes us time to get used to them. If I were to have gotten up at 4 a.m. that first morning, let him go potty and have a drink, I'd been done in with that new routine and wasn't going to fall for it. :animal-pa |
Lilly has slept through the night since about 6 or 7 weeks. Odd I know. If she does wake up, she goes pee and eats some and then goes to lie back down. She seems to know if the lights are out, we are sleeping. Myself and my son can even go in to the room to use the toilet and she just peeks at us from the crate and stays there..goes back to sleep when we leave. |
