| Dog Food Hi all. I have a quick question. I have been feeding Daisy Eukanuba Small Breed Puppy food. The question is the vet told me she is considered an adult at 6 months, but Eukanuba shows Puppy food should be given to until 12 months. I need to buy food and i'm not sure if i should get puppy or adult food? She'll be 6 months in Januray. Thanks for youe help! Happy Holidays to all!! |

| My vet told me 6 months as well. How it was explained to me in the past with my other dogs is that when they are growing quickly in that puppy stage they need the extra nutrients. With my lab they had me go off puppy food even earlier because he was getting too big too quick(supposedly not good on his bones). I think a nice guideline is that dogs stop growing at 6 months (so you stop feeding them puppy food at 6 months) but I've heard, since I've been on here that yorkies can continue growing up to a year so that might account for why some vets say to go to a year. Maybe since a yorkei doesn't quit growing you should continue feeding puppy food. I stopped at 6 months and didn't see any problems. Maybe you can call your vet and say that the bag says to continue and then see what he has to say.

| My vet told me to start switching to adult anywhere from 9-12 months. Maybe it sort of depends on the size/weight of the dog. |
