| liver shunt does anyone have any experience? I just rescued an 18 month 2 1/2 lb yorkie from a breeder who stated the dog either has a liver shunt or she injested something which damaged her liver. She's on lactulose and a concoction of antibiotics, pepto and carob as well as a store bought dog food. Would she fair better on home cooked food? I'm not sure about the pepto concoction as it sounds strange to give such a tiny dog pepto every day. All suggestions greatly appreciated, |

| I don't have experience w/ liver shunt but don't these babies need to be on a special diet & surgery if it can be repaired? You're so wonderful for taking her in, knowing she'll need a lot of care. I hope she'll be ok.

| Has she been to a vet yet? Looks like lots of test in her future. I would do all of that first. It would be important to find out what the problem is and bloodtest... Etc. first! |

| We are taking her to our vet tomorrow along with my other two. I'd just like to get some idea of what has worked for others and what we can expect long term. Members here were so helpful when my little male fell and paralized himself. This list literally saved his life. |
