| Is rice baby food ok for my Yorkie? I talked with the breeder, who has only been breeding for two years and she mentioned that she was feeding my Princess Sophie Rice baby food to help her put on some weight and I wondered if this is any good for my puppy?? Would appreciate whatever info anyone can provide. |

| How much does she weigh? Is she underweight? I wouldn't feed rice baby food- I don't really see a need for it.. If she is "underweight" I would recommend taking her to the Vet- see what he/she says.

| They also have been saying that they are finding arsenic in rice and smart shopper by consumer reports suggest even only feeding that to kids like once or twice a week if at all.

| If pup is not gaining i'd be concerned about a possible parasite load. If no worms and still a concern of a yorkie not gaing then I'd look at the liver. How often are these pups dewormed and/or had fecals? Is breeder getting dewormer from a vet or ovr the counter?

| Well...she weighs in at 21.2 oz. as of this past weekend and 6 weeks old. I had no idea about the "arsenic". You will have to tell me about whether or now she's underweight as being a newbie to Yorkies, I really don't know.

| Oh ok that’s great you are not getting her until she is 12 weeks, would the breeder release her now? A good breeder will make sure all puppies have a full veterinary health check. ( Exam by a Vet)

| I'm still waiting for an em response from the breeder. If she released her now, she is only about 6 weeks old. I'm concerned that if she's getting rice cereal that isn't any good for her, leaving her there till 12 weeks would be a big mistake. Any suggestion??

| Ok, this is what I found out. My breeder is taking the pups to the vet this week for their check ups. That was already part of her plan. I'm afraid however that I think I insulted her when I ask if she would please not feed Sophie the rice cereal and just the kibble unless she is concerned that Sophie is under weight. So now I'm waiting to hear about how the checkup goes. LOL Guess I have foot in mouth disease. I'm just causing all kinds of trouble today. I need a nap!
