| Yeah, the woman at the store told us it is very high in fat but our vet said as a pup, it's okay for it to be a treat once in awhile; especially since we're trying to switch Jack off the Eukanuba food. A little sprinkle here and there makes him a happy boy. lol.

| S&C Thank you, I think you have the right idea, just use it as an attractive additive to regular food. But I am so confused with this food issue with so many conflicting opinions and experiences. Some swear by raw and some hate it??? A friend has a toy poodle who was sick with 'sluggish' gall bladder with partial bile duct blockage. Surgery was not indicated or desired, and the foods the vet suggested did no good, and my friend who is in the medical field decided to research this herself. She came up with a raw food as a solution. Since eating this, the dog is very healthy, slim, lively, and doing very well. If she goes back to regular food the dog gets sick again! She swears by this diet and she says the raw, (fat and all), diet is more easily digested and does not tax the dog's digestive system. This is living proof to me that raw has some benefits for some dogs at least. Perhaps after some time the dog will get some after effects of the diet, but at least she is happy now. Do not wish to stir the pot, but just adding this experience as a data point! |
