| Which is more important? I'm trying to get Joel to eat as much as I can and thats barely half a cup, he's a boney little boy. At night he eats the most but then he won't eat breakfast the next day. But if I feed him less at night he'll eat breakfast. So i'm wondering is it more important for him to pig out at night and maybe get more weight on or eat less at night and then breakfast the next day? |

| I personally think it's important to feed them 2-3x a day. I feed my boys twice daily and split it 50/50. Maybe try that instead of feeding him more during the morning or evening? Or will he still not really eat it? It's also possible that he doesn't like the food. Have you tried switching?

| Rachael, Joel just turned 1, didn't he? I wouldn't worry about trying to beef him up. Teddy was very, very skinny until after his 2 birthday, and he wasn't a big eater. I believe Yorkies tend to naturally fill out, build muscle their second year. Teddy is just right now and has a pretty good appetite.

| Georgie is still boney at 7. My nieces Yorkie Oliver is much more round not overweight at all just thicker. Georgie is like Joel you can't tell with all the hair. I agree with Kristin I wouldn't worry about beefing him up. He may always be thinner (wish I had that problem HA)

| My concern wouldn't be so much that he's boney but that he's not eating and only will after so much time has passed (when he's REALLY hungry).

| I don't think Georgie eats more than a half a cup a day. He eats 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 in the evening and a little snack. He has never been a big eater. My nieces Yorkie sits in the kitchen when you cook Georgie has never done that.

I still wouldn't worry too much unless Joel is throwing up bile. If that is the case, encourage him to eat a little here and there doing tricks. I suppose free-freeding might be out of the question if your other dog, Rosco, is a scheduled meal doggie.

| How much does Joel weigh? Zeus is 6lb and eats 5oz a day (about 3/4 cups). I think that makes a difference too, lol. 1/2 cup for 6lbs isn't enough but is perfect for a 5lber

| I agree Georgie is 4lbs and honestly still can't believe when I type it that he only eats 1/2 cup a day. My nieces Yorkie is closer to 6lbs and eats about the same amount as Zeus.

| Ummmm, sometimes Jackson only eats 1/2 cup per day lol. He's 16lbs. A lot of the higher calorie higher protein foods need to be fed a lot less! He's eating PLENTY. Now, the current food Jax is on is a bit less calories so usually he gets 2/3 cup per day .... but he also gets a lot of treats, chew sticks, etc, so I include those in his daily calories. He's very active. I wouldn't worry about it or force it. A lot of yorkies are very good at self maintaining. FWIW, I think eating in the morning would be more important than late at night.

| Rosco sounds like Coco lol! She would eat Georgie's food as soon as you turned your head! 8lbs is a great weight! He might just have a thin build.
