| Vitamin Supplements Can anyone recommend a good vitamin supplement for those of us that home cook for our spoiled eaters? Something that has all the essential vitamins and minerals, to mix in with the food. |

| I rotate between home cooking and kibble. I feed Synergy by Mainly Dogs. I have been using it for a couple of years and my Lollie's coat is magnificient, if I do say so myself. I know that a lot of coat quality is genetics, but for it to reach it's potential, you have to be sure it has all the nutrients. |

| BalanceIt is one of the only suitable options to properly supplement a home cooked diet. The other option is to talk to a vet nutritionist about using human supplements. I would not use any other product, they are made to go with commercial diets and not home cooked diets. I've been home cooking almost exclusively for my dogs for 12 years now. As someone said, the way your dog looks is mostly genetics, and not all of us have winning show dogs. However, even those who have very shiny silky coats may not be getting all the micronutrients and trace elements they need. Appearance is but one part of the multi-faceted equation of a dog's picture of health, in my humble opinion. So with that said, if you home cook, and even if you do not home cook, a veterinarian should examine your dog annually and conduct lab work as indicated.

| I use Hilary's Blend supplement formulated by Hilary Watson and the recipe book written by her. It is easier to get in Canada than Balanceit. Some recipes do contain alot of grains, I pick the ones with less grains. I am just thankful he is eating and likes his food now as he can be so picky.
