BalanceIt is one of the only suitable options to properly supplement a home cooked diet. The other option is to talk to a vet nutritionist about using human supplements. I would not use any other product, they are made to go with commercial diets and not home cooked diets. I've been home cooking almost exclusively for my dogs for 12 years now. As someone said, the way your dog looks is mostly genetics, and not all of us have winning show dogs. However, even those who have very shiny silky coats may not be getting all the micronutrients and trace elements they need. Appearance is but one part of the multi-faceted equation of a dog's picture of health, in my humble opinion. So with that said, if you home cook, and even if you do not home cook, a veterinarian should examine your dog annually and conduct lab work as indicated.
