| I am trying this food because DH picked it and wants to try it on Peanut- I don't think Peanut is some allergic dog and needs to be on some crazy RX diet. He was on Acana for ever and did great, the last bag of Acana started making him itch like crazy- I had to find a new food for him, Brothers is what DH found hence that is why we are trying it- I don't know why he was itching, all I know is he has never itched on Acana before, then we bought a new bag with the "new formula" and he started itching like crazy! I just want to find a dog food that works- If this food doesn't work I will find another one, it is just food. Some people have strong opinions, and that is fine. However you have to look at the big picture- Acana is this marvelous company, many people love them and many dogs loved their food and did well on their food- All of a sudden they changed the formula and now I hear of a lot of itchy dogs- Just like Science Diet issue- Not too many people like them, but I have heard of a lot of dogs doing well on that food- Who is to say what is right for a dog- We can all have our opinions, but what is going to matter is how well your dog does on the food you pick!

| Not every food will work for every dog... and everybody is going to have something to say... either good or bad about every food. I say feed what you feel comfortable feeding and whatever works best for your pup! Try not to get too wrapped up in others opinions especially if it is working for your pup. Sometimes that is easier said than done. ![]() On That Note: I was Extremely Bummed that with the last bag of Acana, Wild Prairie..... Riley got very itchy and his Tummy broke out in small nasty dark dry patches... - I switched him to CANINE CAVIAR Attaching Before and After Photos. The first two are after the new bag of Acana and before the Canine Caviar. The second two are after taking him off of the Acana and switching him to the Canine Caviar... We are on our way to a clear/smooth tummy!! |

| I don't think anybody said it can't work. It is fine to just try a different otc food with different ingredients if just one kind caused itchies. That will work for a lot of dogs and has to do with the protein they are allergic to. that can wirk with any new kibble though, not just this brand. If there are still problems after a couple kibbles are tried, then yes it is time for an elimination diet by homecooking or with one of those crazy rx foods. All we are saying is that true allergy foods are simple and novel. This can't be considered a true allergy diet because there are so many protein sources. the thread eas started to ask about the food...

| I feed canine caviar grain free venison. My dog loves it and it has cleared up a lot her skin problems. Just wish it didnt make her go potty six times a day! I think I'll be staying with canine caviar from here on out though. |

| Hmm thats a big difference. I was thinking it was the food causing it. Maybe I am feeding too much or maybe because I feed it throughout the day. I feed her 1/4th cup a day broken up into breakfast lunch dinner and snack. She's three pounds. How much and how often are you feeding yours? |

Well, Riley is about at 9 pounds. I think he gained about a pound when I was feeding him raw morning and night. I have been feeding him between 1/8 cup to 1/4 cup of the Canine Caviar Kibble with about 4 - 5 frozen green beans that I run under hot water and then cut into small pieces to mix in with the kibble. I will sometimes sprinkle a teeny bit of coconut chips onto it and a squirt of is Nordic Naturals Omega pills | |

| Well we got our new bag of Brothers! It came super wrapped up which was nice to see, they had it in a box with a separate piece of thin cardboard wrapped around the food bag! The food smells pretty good, not stinky like Acana. Peanut loves the food, with Acana it would take him 2 days to eat 1/3 of a cup, with this food I am still giving him 1/3 of a cup, however he will finish it in one day. He will munch a little while I am at work and then finish it in the evening!! Also the food is small so I do not have to cut it!! He seems a lot less itchy as well- He has normal poops, he will poo 1-2 times a day as it was with Acana! I am pleased with the food, so far so good- I hope he continues to do well on this food!!
