| I was a little uncomfortable with it and that's why I chose venison. My three pound yorkie has food allergies and trouble digesting food and i didn't want food high in fat and protein. I read though if it's meat that makes the food high in protein it's not really too bad for them. I would love it if they came out with a little bit lower fat content grain free and single meat source. |

| I thought there was only one grain-free semi-high in fat (20% or so?). The others are around high 20's for protein and between 13-16% for fat. Think the Open Sky 29% protein and 15% fat is a perfect percentage IMO.

| If the protein is of a good quality it makes it easier for the body to digest and has no real harmful effect to the body. Many foods use less than desirable protein sources and then are extruded at very high temperatures at least three times. That is where protein causes issues. Also protein levels are higher in grain free food because it has not been cut in it's percentage rate by the high amount of grain in other foods. Percentages change according to what the rest of the ingredient list is. Just like a can food with a lot of water in it will appear to have less protein even though that percentage rating is only because of the water content. When I fed Stella & Chewy's freeze dried food the percentage rate of protein and fat looked quite high in comparison to the frozen but that was due to the fact that all the water content is taken out during the freeze drying process. This makes it a very concentrated food. Add water and those percentages change again. These percentage rating can be very deceptive. A good quality protein that is in a form that is easy to digest can be very helpful to an animal. Dogs need to eat less of the more concentrated food as well. |

| Does anyone else think CC stinks? lol I have the Open Sky, and whew it's smelly! Not, like, in a rancid spoiled way. But you can definitely tell it's duck! It just doesn't smell pleasant to me, LoL We're not feeding it anymore tho- he didn't seem too interested in eating it, and I didn't feel it was anything spectacular (for us). Nothing "Bad" happened from feeding it, but I think he does better on Earthborn which is half the price. It's probably like half the bag still left... I wonder if I found my receipt if it'd still be returnable? I think you have like 30 days, not sure tho, but it was $20! We just purchased a 14lb bag of Earthborn Meadow Feast for my dads dog from MrChewy (and holy crap, fast shipping!!!) so I took some for Jackson to keep too, as well as a 4lb bag of Fromm Beef Fritta grainfree. He hasn't had luck on the other Fromm formulas but we haven't tried the grainfrees, so we are giving it a shot because I love the company so much lol. He loved the sample we had of it (taste wise), so it's going to be between Earthborn and Fromm. If he does well on both, I guess we'll switch between Fromm Beef and then Earthborn Meadow Feast. Still kinda bummed about Acana changing... but whatever, I think we will be happy with Earthborn
