| Bahhhh! Allergies! Gizmo has been sneezing up a storm and eyes watering. He seems to be taking after his Momma because my throat is killing me, and I'm waking up stuffy daily. I've been giving Gizmo Benedryl per our vet with the correct dosage about every other day. My vet said I can give it to him max every 2-3 hours. I'm not doing this, but before I give him a call...Do any of you ladies give your pups Benedryl for seasonal allergies? P.S. The pollen and rag weed right now in MI is unbearable!

| Sorry to hear about Gizmo . Me and Sophia suffer from allergies too! Sophia's not on benedryl, but she takes 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec twice a day & an anti-inflammatory (I think) spray . I probably didn't help you at all, but poor you & Gizmo and I hope those allergies go away soon

| Mine has taken benedryl. Currently he takes 5mg of Claritin once a day in addition to his allergy shots.

| I am from Michigan too, my chihuahua takes Allegra... he started flaring up yesterday. Swollen eyes and paws. I started out on Benedryl, but i go to school and work full time, there was no way I could do the timing correct. Last edited by Flower003; 07-13-2012 at 11:54 AM. |

| aaarrrgghh Allergies got me right now bad! I had to go to Dr myself this week. Clogged up, fluid in my ears. Got med's, hopefully it will get better. Day 2 now and I feel about the same as when I went to Dr. on Wednesday. I have never had allergy problem this bad. Jack is my little furbaby allergy king. I give him 1 cc of benadryl when needed. Most of Jacks is seasonal. Or 1/4 tablet. I do not like to give to him cause it makes him so sleepy. I try to only give it to him in the late evening unless it is bad. |

| Zack's been itching scratching up a storm b/c of some allergy. Our vets said to give 1mg of Benedry per pound. Zack's around 11lbs, so half a 25mg would be just about right. The vet also said to give every 8hours, 3x per day max. I've found out that after 3 or 4 doses he stops itching/scratching so the Benedryl must build up or have a residual effect beyond the 8hours. I never have gone the 3x per day just after breakfast and around 9pm for overnight. Seems to work best for him. I have the mg to ml conversion if you want to go the liquid Benedryl route. A quick shot of liguid in the back of the mouth and its over. Zack's easy to give meds to, hide it in some cheese and it's gone.

| Rosie takes it when she has allergies. It has always worked well for her.
