				   | Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Boost? It's grain-free kibble with freeze dried raw bits in the same bag. I want to stick with an all raw diet but I do need something to leave out if we have to be gone for the day. Any input on this one? |

				   | Seems okay... not much different than their regular formulas, so if it's a lot more expensive, I wouldn't choose it over their regular Instinct. I definitely think the idea is great. Fat content seems a bit high.

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This looks like more like a supplement to me...is that what you want it for? Hmmm...since Megan is fighting those allergies, you might want to only start one new thing at a time...then wait 3-4 wks before starting a 2nd thing. Otherwise, it can get confusing if she has new symptoms...been there .Are you thinking the regular frozen raw or the NV kibble for the main food?

Sidebar: it just bugs me that NV uses flax in so many of their products, when it truly does irritate some dogs' skin issues . I don't know why they don't just use salmon oil.Lol, I finally found it! I was looking at their Boost treats/supps.

Also when the cottonwood trees bloomed in full force about 3 blocks away!I want to transition them to raw as their main food, I truly believe it has great health benefits for them, but I would like to find a kibble that I could leave out if I know we will be gone for the day and to make it easier when we travel. I thought if I fed the NV raw with no trouble then maybe one of their kibbles would work too. I wouldn't try the kibble until they were adjusted to the raw and they wouldn't be fed at the same time. They did have their first taste of raw this morning with their breakfast...part of an organic chicken medallion for each of them and a little less than normal of their home cooked chicken/veggies...not mixed together, just in the same bowl...they seemed to like it. Right now she is laying at the base of my chair, sleeping peacefully...and not scratching...life is good Last edited by my2boyz; 06-06-2012 at 08:49 AM. | |

You know, it's frustrating because I have her sister from the same litter and her other sister that we rescued now lives with my sister (that's a lot of sisters I know...and that ain't all...I have 6 of my own!) and they are both fine...it's just my Miss Moo that got the allergies Not that I would want to share them with her sisters but it would be nice if they were all 3 allergy free | |

				   | I have noticed that many, if not most, kibbles use flaxseed. I guess it would only be an issue if the dog is allergic to flaxseed.

I think NV's limited ingredient line is a bit lower in fat, if I recall.
