| Does anyone give Trifexis for heartworm/flea? We used to give INterceptor/Comfortis but Interceptor is no longer available as their plant has been shut down for investigation. my vet suggested Trifexis- anyone use it? Thoughts? Not sure what to give now... |

| If you were already giving Comfortis and Interceptor, then the drugs she would be getting would be the same. Novartis had the market on milbemycin (interceptor). Now another company is using it. So you wouldn't really be changing active ingredients on her. That said, I don't like spinosad (comfortis) and don't use it for my kids.

So what do you use for Heartwork/Flea? Layla needs to be on it year round as she spends her winters in Florida (tough life eh?)

| So many YTers seems to like Comfortis. It's just a bit new for my liking, esp. with the talk online (and FDA drug reports) of liver issues. I use Interceptor or Sentinel for Ellie and Heartgard Plus for Rylee. Then I use Frontline Plus on both as needed (very, very rare). We stocked up on Interceptor when production stopped. I can definitely understand people being concerned about using their products though. I really like Heartgard. Ellie can't have it though, so if we run out of Interceptor, she will take something else.

What do you mean Frontline Plus as needed? Like when and if you see a flea? It says that Sentinel does fleas.

I can only say I'd personally choose Heartgard Plus and then pick the flea med. Yes, only when there is suspicion of fleas. I don't really like flea meds and prefer not to give them constantly.

| Jackson just took his last Interceptor pill for the month and we're out. I'm assuming our vet doesn't have any more in stock. Does Heartguard Plus only come in chewable form? Jax will not just take it as a treat... so would it be okay to grind it, and mix it in food, or no?
